The general went AWOL

I took leave of my lack of sense and loaded up Thursday morning and pointed it west. Two days in the saddle, 1200 miles, two images, and a piece of mind.

Its hard to explain how the sight of the Big Horns eased my heart this evening. Not sure where I am going next. I think I may go see where Custer got what he had comming and some of Montana and Idaho. No set plan really beyond needing to be back on the east side of the creek on the first.

So Rodney, when are you bringing my truck back? We want to go camping, too!
I wonder if anybody else here on the forums has that same two tone beige/brown Ford pickup, with a gray topper (cap) hanging on the back?
Seriously, have a great trip, and don't forget to drink plenty of water when you're out exploring the aird Southwest.

Here's photos of Rodney's, and my, trucks' left corners, for y'all's amusement:

Yes, the Bighorns are cool! Did you go out I-80? Whatever route, how were the road conditions? Have a long great trip!

Well, you can have the truck back but it aint much for mountian towing . Looks like I will be limited to where I can go. I knew I would need a truck with more power but I was hoping to make it work this trip- no dice. So it goes. I think I can skirt the big climbs and still have a good time out here ( the extended 10% going east out of Buffalo WY on 16 stopped me). There is a new (er) truck in my future for sure.

Road report: the interstate is pretty good across South Dakota with some minor sections of one lane traffic. Probally as good as I have seen it.

Headed north today

There's nothing like the lure of the road to get the restless heart pumping. For those of us currently trapped at home we can get a bit of a quick fix by tagging along via your camera - if you don't mind that is. There is a lot of country out there I and many others are hoping to take in first hand at some point, but at least for now this helps keep some sanity in our lives.

Enjoy your trip Rodney. The more pictures you can post the better, along with your commentary to spice things up a bit.

Thanks for sharing,
Barry

General:
You are in one of my favorite areas - that area from Buffulo to Sheridan, and on up to the Little Big Horn, has a number of interesting places. It was known as the 'Bloody Bozeman' trail back in the wagon train days - the Fetterman Massacre, the Wagon Box Fight, and so on, up to the Last Stand. I am jealous now, and wishing I was there. Have a good time! There are a number of good campgrounds, some primitive, around Sheridan, and in the mountains just west of there. Some good mountain streams, too, if you are into fly fishing.
