I wonder if anyone has any opinion on the newly improved Garmin RV 770 NA LMT-S. It is supposed to react better to route planning RV and truck specific parameters, grade change warnings and other desirable features. Or not? Thanks.

Hi

I'm not sure about the "new improved" one, but assuming it is the same as the RV 770-NA LMT-S that has been out for a few years now ....

It has a lot of issues. We call ours "Psycho GPS". It has routed us into corn fields, prisons, and up to an awful lot of locked gates. It has no real built in database for state parks, let alone the campgrounds in them. What it does pull up comes from "external sources". That means when it's wrong .... don't blame Garmin. The gas station database, even with frequent updates can be years out of date ....

All that said, there really isn't any competition. It is about the only thing out there that will take your rig's information and at least *try* to work out a route. Yes, it would be nice if it *told* you about an issue with a road before you turned down it, but at least it tells you ....

Did I mention the "one way street" data is a bit wonky? .....

Lots of fun !!!
