Yesterday we began our grand adventure in our 1958
Flying Cloud. WBCCI # 3667. February 28th is the transition date from working fulltime, to retirement and full timing in the Airstream. We sold all our furniture and only stored a few personal items and our own artwork.
We took off from Lincoln City Oregon on a beautiful sunny coastal day (there have not been many in February) and headed east to Judy's sister's house in Sweet Home to drop off our cat Dinky Dau for a year or so. Our first night on the road was on the street in front of her house boon docking, as she had no outside power. It rained all night.
Next we headed back to the coast via Eugene on Hwy 126. It rained all afternoon. It was clear when we got back to the coast at Florence. We are in a State Park with electricity. Cozy. I have a pass for Oregon Veterans that allows free camping. We are in the Honeyman State Park. It is a gateway into the sand dunes. Beautiful rain forest. But we are tired of rain.
We head south tomorrow on Hwy 101 to California and Hwy 1 through the Redwoods. Our destination by the end of the month is San Diego and cross over to Baja on April 1st. More on that later.
As I begin this Thread I plan to share some photos of our Flying Cloud when we first acquired it in Idaho about 7 years ago. Then post some of the pictures during my refurbishing of it. We pulled it with a 1958
Cadillac for five years then "modernized" to a 1992 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser wagon.
I am tired tonight so I will post only a few pictures taken a few weeks ago.
