From Spokane, need to get away!

Hey guys and gals!

We aren't camper people yet...or even trailer people yet. We will be tent camping this go-round...going to go take the kids out for the first time, now that the baby is getting older.

Being from the East side of Washington, we are looking for a "hot spot" (literally and figuratively) somewhere between here and Montana. Can anyone recommend a great spot on a lake or river for camping/fishing and possibly some sky seeing through a telescope?

I appreciate any advice!

Thank you!!!

Sam

When I was a little kid we used to go camping at Fish Lake near Leavenworth. This was back in 1969-71 while my dad was a student at WSU. Not sure if it's still a good place, but it was fantastic when I was a kid.

Not east of Spokane but west on US 2 on the Columbia River a couple of miles from Lake Chelan. Beebe Park is a Chelan County facility that is all mowed grass, paved roads, lots of sun, fishing on Columbia River, playgrounds for the kiddies, clean bathrooms and prepared tent sites. There are no reservations so space is usually available mid-week. Google their web site for more info and pictures.
