From Cincinnati to Tahoe
We are headed to south lake tahoe to volunteer at a us firest service historic site (tallac) and need to be there in late July. We plan on spending close to three weeks getting there. It is our maiden voyage with our "86 sovereign. Any suggestions on sites to see going out on a northern route or campsites to stay at would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have experiences with a northern route. If a southern route, I'd make time for Palo Duro state park south of Amarillo any time I could. Sounds like a great trip - safe travels.

Thanks Globie64 for the suggestions. I know my thread was VERY general and vague but I posted it in a moment of excitement thinking about the trip.

3 weeks would allow time for a trip to Rapid City, SD (Mount Rushmore & Custer State Park), Cody WY, and Yellowstone NP. Leaving Yellowstone you could head to Jackson Hole and south to I-80 or thru Idaho into Nevada and pickup I-80.
Sounds like a great adventure whatever the route!!

Thanks Bk Yd for your suggestions. I like the idea of Custer State Park and driving through Wyoming. We have a big 85 pound mutt and with the restrictions on his going on hiking trails in the national parks, we will look to avoid them and take advantage of state parks and national forests.

Head straight West on I-70 to Colorado. So many things to do and beautiful places to camp you'll run out of time. Pick up US 50 in Utah and go straight through Utah to Tahoe. It's a straight line on the map. Would avoid I -80.

That's a heck of a haul for a maiden voyage! I think I would find some time for a two hour tow at highway speeds just to be sure the wheels are round and the toilet doesn't fall thru the floor!

Actually, we bought the AS last August outside of Atlanta and towed it upo over two days to our home in Cincinnati. We also spent several days camping in it at a kentucky state park. I think of it as our initial voyage, although not our maiden trip. We had some time to check the toilet and kitchen out and see what worked and what didn't and it is up in Jackson Center getting some repairs.

We have put $65,000 miles on our 350 moho in the last 10 years traveling coast to coast and border to border. No matter what route you take to Tahoe it will be memorable. Safe journeys.
