LOL, I drove right by it a few weeks ago on our Indiana Trip. It looked interesting! It was close to our destination or we would have detoured to take a look. Haven't heard of Wabbit Twax though......sorry. Just too funny to see it on here.....good luck.

Tell me you made that up, or is this one of those nudist campgrounds?

Google it

I Googled it and it was for real! Didn't get much information other than reviews. It sounds like it is mostly seasonal folks camping there. Interesting name!

I grew up not far from French Lick, it's a beautiful area. I've never camped in the immediate area, but Springs Mill state park is a great location not too far away. If you go I'd recommend taking a few hours to check out the West Baden Springs hotel West Baden Springs Hotel Built and Owned by Lee Wiley Sinclair . It's one of the more impressive grand hotels you'll ever see. Built by a local tycoon in the late 1800's boasting the worlds largest unsupported dome, it eventually fell into ruins before it's restoration within the past 10 years. An anonymous donation from a local started the restoration which in all took over 40 mil. to complete. There isn't a lot of money in the area so most people assume it was Larry Bird. A drive to Huntingburg and Jasper also makes for a nice day trip from French Lick.

Have never camped there but we love the old hotels. We stayed at French Lick springs twice before the latest renovation. Have been on the tour of West Baden before it reopened. Unfortunately with the casino addition and total renovation of both hotels, they have now made it too expensive to stay there. It is 3x the price we paid before. Patoka lake is not too far away, so we might camp there sometime.

Going to French Lick

We have been going to French Lick the past couple of years, going again in late July. Somehow, family time-shares ended up with the same week each year. We took our Airstream out to Patoka Lake, a beautiful location. If you have a little extra cash, you can rent a boat from a nearby vendor, Gilligan's, for some fishing or to enjoy the lake.

If you have kids, Holiday World is a lot of fun. We always go one day during our week. It's always hot, so the water park is refreshing. The amusement park has some of the best wooden roller coasters in the world.

So, whether you enjoy the casino, or the outdoors, French Lick is kind of neat.

I don't know about Wabbit Twax. I'd love to hear from you if you have been, maybe we'll spend a few days there next time.

I echo the idea for Spring Mill State Park. It's a very nice park, with some interesting exhibits. The nature center was rather lacking when we were there in early June. The economy seems to have cut into the budget, leaving the focus on the mill and Pioneer Village. The Inn has a nice restaurant with a big selection of pies.

Have fun!

Anne
