Someone on this forum must have tried to contact this guy. If so what happened? Also why wouldn't they put a phone number or email in the add? I did think this was a little fishy as well.

Greatpumpkin, what search did you use on google?
The ad has already been flagged for removal, just like most of the others I found. Phone number wouldn't work since they are usually overseas. That might tip off the prospective mark that they are being scammed.

Search: "VINTAGE 1965 17ft AIRSTREAM CARAVEL" That pulled up 12 identical ads yesterday. All with the same poor spelling in the title and all for $2,500! (Vintage 1965 17ft AIRSTREAM CARAVEL Travel Trailer RV caper camping - $2500) Now craigslist has trimmed them down, but here's one still active in Columbia, MO

Thanks, GP I found some of the other ones that were left and flaged them as well. I did think this was too good to be true.

I got my AS off of CL and can't help looking their from time to time. I like to help others to find their dream AS if I can. But would not wish that anyone be lead astray.

Painted Gray -- 25 ft long

Found today in an RV sales lot in Colorado Springs, on route 24 one block west of I-25. I have no connection to the business. I talked to the manager and he says he's got about $8,000 in this one. Note the "dish" on the roof--I have no idea what it is, but probably TV. No sign of sophisticated electronics inside. Yes, it is gray. He knows how much work it takes to polish an Airstream and decided this was the way to go. Looks good, but sorta like a spiffy lady with too much makeup...

Nice aluminum propane tanks.

The insides look very original and in good condition. I was a little surprised at the wet bath, considering this is a 25 footer.

Some of the cabinets may not be original, as they don't have tambors. Instead, they have 1/2" hinged or sliding panels. They are dark, as you can see.

He's an Airstream fan but says he gets more "value" from Silverstreaks!
The SS on his lot was pretty spiffy--unfortunately the photo doesn't do it justice.

No, I didn't buy this one. The seller was asking $7000.00. The interior was completely restored. And a very nice job too. Maybe the new owner will show up here. If he is smart he will anyhow.

I always have my eyes open for others. But one is all I can handle right now.

That's only got five panels in the curve. I thought 1947 models had 7 panels?

Sorry Zep,
I only listed as I found it. Not my listing.

that does seem like a deal. I think I might be up for a pipe-frame, after i finish the 2 ahead of it! very nice trailer, though. I love the old rounded ends, though I hear they have limited headroom.

:-o

Alaska Airstream Sightings

Well we're back in Anchorage after a whirlwind 10 days in AK. Noted a few Airstreams and Argosy's in storage in Anchorage as we arrived.
But the best sightings happened yesterday. Pictured below is a lost beauty way out in the wilds in Chitna AK. I had our guide stop so I could record it for you all. Note the Wally numbers! I also saw briefly a 13 panel beauty in a back yard on our way from Wrangles St. Elias National Park but was unable to get our guide to stop for yet more Airstream photos. That would have been a find.
So you'll have to be contented with the photo below. Enjoy!
