If you are traveling through the Atlanta area be aware of restrictions on the new toll lanes on I-85, I-75 and I-675. You cannot use these lanes when towing a trailer. Even an Airstream! Automatic ticket by mail. But the Georgia Peachpass does work in Florida.

Alright, we made it to Mouseville. Longest AS journey since we picked up our 23CB last April. AS pulled easily and followed us like a puppy. Coming from Long Island, we stayed overnight twice. First overnight was at the Carolina Crosswinds in NC. Very nice, clean and quiet. Second overnight was at the Coastal GA RV Resort. Pretty bushes between all pull through sites. Nice but a little noisy being so close to I-95.
Worst part of the southbound trip was the new overpass construction in North Carolina and the right hand lane in South Carolina. Just a poor road. What a mess!
We are staying in the 100 loop - site #115. It’s an inside loop site perfectly located to access all activities in the Settlement area. Neighbors are terrific with many inquiries concerning our AS. I think I have to establish tour hours so we can get some Mickey time . It’s all good. Makes us happy with our decision to enter the AS world.

Yup, we heard that about the Hoop Dee Doo. We’re signed up for tomorrow night. Thanks for the good tip on the 100 loop. Tuesday night is the Mickey Halloween party. Many loops are a hoot with many rigs set up for the big scare. Looking forward to the party in Magic Kingdom starting at 7pm.

Just curious if you followed I-95 for the entire trip?
Glad you made it safely. You will have an awesome time!

Hi Hans,
We took 301 South in Delaware and followed it past D.C. to Richmond. Then I-295 east around Richmond then jumped on I-95 below Petersburg. My thanks to OTRA for suggesting 301 many months ago.
The rest of 95 was fine (lots of troopers looking both ways). As I stated before, South Carolina’s southbound 95 really stunk. I want to bypass that someway next trip.
We head home to NY next Saturday, so I’m going to explore another route, if feasible.

Thanks for your route knowledge a few months ago. Really helped. For what it’s worth, we have a 23CB. We wanted the front Queen but we just could not make the weird dinette work. CB tows like a dream and we are very comfortable inside.

Oops my mistake on the model, I now remember you making that choice!
How much time do you have to get back, or . . . how adventurous are you feeling? Personally I would go north via the Appalachian Mountains and end up on I-81 to the Garden State Parkway finishing at the GW Bridge, or take the Bridgeport Port Jeff ferry. A little more money, but lower risks all around IMO. Plus a great return home crossing LI Sound.
Like a fine dessert after an amazing meal!
Have fun.

Hi Pete. No rush to get home so I’ll look into the western routes. So humid down here in FL. Makes the Fantastic Fan water monitor useless. All they sense is the moisture in the air and they shut down. No matter, the 13K a/c has been flawless (so far)
Thanks for the alternate trek north.

The only route I have taken N/S from/to Florida [south of North Carolina] is I-95, so I am not sure about alternative routes in the deep South. If you search in the new blue box above for "Atlanta congestion," it seems like a good city to avoid.
Looking briefly at the map, you might consider:
-- I-75 north to Macon GA
-- US 129 and 441 north to Athens GA
-- north of which is the Nantahala NF and Great Smokey Mountains NP
-- with Asheville NC being a possible destination to aim for as a way-point IMO
Plenty of info here about that area: https://www.google.com/search?q=Ashe...=airforums.com
One good thing about this route is that it should get cooler as you go up in elevation in the mountains. Plus school will be back in session.
You could start a new thread for routes north. There are plenty about "I-81 avoid I-95" -- in fact early in this thread there may be some posts about that?
Enjoy the next few days. I used to visit family in the Orlando area, so I know what humidity you are dealing with . . . Yikes!
Happy trails,
Peter
PS -- One alternative route would be the eastern-most, hugging the shore north of Charleston SC until you get to Cedar Island NC where you would take the ferry to Ocracoke NC and The Outer Banks. We made it south to Cape Hatteras in the 90's during the off-season and had a great time. Your 23' AS is a perfect size for taking on the smaller ferries but you should probably do some R&D and have reservations if you go this coastal route. Still a bummer that you have to use I-95 for the early part of this route.
Plenty of options, but the binary choice of mountains/ocean seems like one you should make soon!
