There are multiple battery technologies (lead acid, lithium ion, nickel metal hybride) and the process is similar in concept for each. With the Prius, which uses nickel metal hybride batteries, Toyota is running recycling plants.
If you’re ever worried about batteries going in the landfill just leave them by the side of the road in Detroit. They’re worth plenty to recyclers and will never end up in a landfill.

In the news today:
Quote:
Elon Musk’s Tesla has drastically increased the price of their Supercharger electric charging stations worldwide shortly after the company announced mass layoffs and the shutdown of their referral program.

Electrek reports that Elon Musk’s electric car manufacturer Tesla has drastically increased the price of their Supercharger stations worldwide; this change comes shortly after the company shut down all Tesla referral programs and announced the layoff of seven percent of its workforce.
I do think electric vehicles are the future, at least until the next thing. Perhaps Musk went off the rails with all his projects.
However, I just don't think the technology is there...yet.

Having ridden trains in the UK, I'll say they're ON TIME (to the minute), clean, safe, and reasonably priced. Compare them to Amtrak and you see why Americans aren't rushing to jump on the "light rail" or "Bullet train" bandwagon.

Sure they can develop it and release it but how many will be sold? If there is a market it will catch on.

I can see some value for some vehicles that don't travel many miles. They just have to be one that can do a days work before needing recharge.

Commuting, public transit, and walking is nice if you go to work and stay there. But when I was working it was 6 miles to work then I might do 100-200 miles to check on projects, go to meetings or pick up things in varying places on a regular day. Then 6 miles home. Often times infrastructure wasn't there yet.
