we are home!

Well, our first MAJOR trip has ended. We pulled into our driveway at 8 pm this evening. Everyone survived.....and no issues with the AS or the TV. Only a few minor GPS blips, but nothing that we couldn't work out on our own..... (it's called READ THE SIGN, honey!)

We stayed at Red Top Mountain, near Cartersville, Ga., last night. Saw our final AS of the trip there ....it was Someday 59.....we met them at the Canopener in January! Small world...

I will try to figure out the picture posting and tell about some of the return campsites and other trip notes tomorrow.

It's nice to be home.

Welcome home. Now that you have your first big trip under your belt, what is your comfortable/ideal milage or hours towing per day? We are 400+ miles from the nearest beach and while this is over our ideal travel time/distance it just doesn't make sense to stop 50 miles from the destination. Sometimes we just let the itinerary determine the day, even when it stretches our comfort zone.

I just lost the whole long winded recap of our trip. I guess it wasn't something that I was supposed to share....

We drove an average of 400 miles a day. Sometimes more and sometimes less. Mostly it depended on how far away the next campground was, when we were near the 400 mile mark on the odometer. My husband drove the whole 6,400 mile trip...he likes to drive!

Hi,

I was just wondering what was your impression of Red Top Mountain State Park. Glad you're home safely!

My 2 cents...we love Red Top Mountain! They are redoing the bathroom by the pull-thru sites. It is scheduled to be finished some time in August.

Nice park, narrow roads though. Big rigs should stay on sites 1-12. Don't go wandering around looking for a "better site near the water" with your big rig attached. Dump station near the entrance...construction going on there.

Just a quick note...I have tried to post a long winded trip story, but each time I have to login again and I lose my post. Trust me when I tell you, we had a great time. I will list the parks we stayed in and if you want more info, I will talk specifically about that park.

I am soooo not computer literate!!!

KOA @ MIles City , Mo.
Bear Butte, Sturgis, SD
Lewis and Clark, IA
Wayne Fitzgerald, Il
Elkmont, Smokey Mts. Tenn
Redtop Mt. near Cartersville, Ga.
