Florida state parks
Can someone recommend a or some Florida State Parks that have nice campsites that back up to or very close to the ocean. Do any of these have sewage? Trying to make summer travel plans.

St Andrews State Park in Panama City, FL. It has sites that back up to the Grand Lagoon. We stayed there for a week last year. Some sites are tight, 30 amps only, with a dump station. Beautiful campground. Did some snorkeling, kayaking, and biking. Camping reservations a must as this campground fills up fast.

Ft. Clinch north of Jacksonville nice park some sites near the ocean. Anastasia great park near but no site that back to Ocean. Sebastian Inlet right on the inlet nice beach and fishing. Curry Hammock and Long key right on the ocean. All the above are dump station. John Pennekamp in the keys sites not on the ocean are not very big. But have full hook up. With that said these parks are hard to get reservations for. All have walk ups but that's a real crap shoot as well. We have snagged some sites by looking on line as there are cancelations but they also go fast. So if you see an opening you need to book it ... It probably will not be there the next day. Also Brevard co jetty park is ok no ocean front but they do have some boondocking sites on the inlet. It does have a nice beach and I think some non water front full hook up site.

Anastasia State PArk in St Augustine is beautiful, close to the beach and a short bike ride into town. Spots can be tight but they are private and lovely.

Gamble Rogers Memorial Recreational Area is the official name I believe. Just north of Daytona Beach in Flagler Beach on the Atlantic. You can't get much closer than that without being on the beach. Electric and water, no sewer. Good luck getting in, I hear it's pretty full a year out. We lucked out and got one night on a trip around Florida's coasts.

try St Joseph Peninsula..2 camping loops in the park.. Gulf Breeze loop is just over the dunes from the Gulf...a bit isolated so be sure to stock the pantry...Bahia Honda is my favorite SP in Florida but good luck getting a site..

In North Florida, I would second the vote for Fort Clinch, noting that there is a beach loop, and a river loop - if nearby beach access is your goal, you'll want the former; if shade and a more natural campsite area is your goal, then consider the latter. In the Keys, my favorite is Long Key, but as others have noted, sites at Long Key, Curry Hammock and Bahia Honda are hard to come by. Best regards, Joe

Anastasia is NOT too FAR from the beach. The campgrounds are in a wooded patch of land that backs up to the water but the public beach access requires a walk around the sites to the main road and around. It is not that far though. The nice thing about this park is that it offers various activities in the backwater - kayaking, sailing, etc and then there is the huge wide natural beach with a snack bar and parking lot. You would need a bike or something unless you are ok to walk about 2 miles.

Have camped at Fort Desoto and St. Joe's peninsula stare parks and each have a disticnt reason, Desoto because your close to shopping and touristy stuff and St. Joes for the quite laid-back beach side camping. Loved both and would without a doubt stay at either one. Enjoy

Your best bet is St. George, St. Andrews, or St. Joseph out on the Panhandle because they don't book up as quickly as others on the east coast. Anastasia and Gamble Rogers are nice, but are hard to get into. North Beach Camp Resort (north of St. Augustine) is supposed to be nice, but it's a private campground. You could also try Little Talbot Island State park, which is across A1A from the Atlantic. It's north of Jacksonville.

Thanks to all for the great information. We are in the mist of chemo that takes up several of our days but by the end of June should finish so have time to plan . I guess I didn't realize that great places are hard to get. Will have to plan accordingly. May wait until the heat is not so unbearable.
