Florida: My bags are packed

Our bags are packed and we are ready to go. We are standing here outside our door the snow is blowing and it is really cold. It is early morn so we turn around and don't know when we will go. So cry for us as it is really cold and Florida is so far away. The time will come when we will leave in our Airstream but right now it is just a dream.

Sounds like the lyrics to an old Peter, Paul & Mary....

Florida ain't the panacea it's cracked up to be. I had to put a sweat shirt on this morning to go out with the dogs for a walk a 5:30. We won't be getting decent spring weather for another week to ten days.

It was one of my favorite songs when I was in Nam.

It may not be the panacea however I needed a sweatshirt, my down jacket, goretex gloves with inserts an my insulated boots and that was at 9:30 in the morning just to star the car.

We're in the same boat [Airstream] as you. We were to leave early this week from Ontario to Florida. An extreme cold Vortex has settled over the east giving us a temperature of 3F right now....feels like -9F. So we decided to hold off on leaving till early March when it should warm up a fair bit. This way we can take in Alumalina on our way home. Looking forward to our first trip in our new 26U and our first AS rally.

That's really a bummer to be a virtual prisoner of the weather. Hopefully, you will get a break soon and be able to slip away unnoticed by Old Man Winter.

I feel for you being stuck in the cold!
I've been outside in short sleeves since mid morning, washing the trailer. It actually got pretty warm out today where I am, about 70 miles south of Orlando.
By March it normally is down right HOT in FL. I'll be on my way back home to NC early in April.

We are leaving tommorow morning as the weather is suppose to break. I know it will be very cold in the AM however as we head south it is suppose to warm up into the forties. All was not lost as I took claire out for an early Valentine's dinner.

We're headed to Key West and then to Juno Beach. Hopefully 2 weeks of Fl sun starting March 7. Can't wait.

That's actually a John Denver song. It was covered by Peter, Paul and Mary though.

I think I knew on some level that John Denver had written that, and I had his records on which he sang it.

Ahh, those were the days....

Just look for a open window in the weather forecast and go. Once you are in Georgia you should be OK. My wife and I usually go to Paradise Park about 20 miles east of Punta Gorda, Florida. You can find it on the web. There are people who rent out their lots or you can rent a spot from the park office. 28 per night if you stay 6 nights the 7th one is free. Punta Gorda is far enough south to have warm weather for the winter. We live in Moundsville, WV about 70 miles south of Pittsburgh,Pa. and it is cold here. Good luck

Some people always need to gripe about the weather.
Yes it has been a little cool down here lately but 50s at night and 65 to 70 during the day with sunshine sure the hack beats anything up north in MHO.
