Florida East Coast in Feb

Any suggestions for the East Coast of Florida around Melbourne ? We have a week open between other stops and want to explore the area.

Long Point Park, S Melbourne Beach. Very nice campground. Lots of waterfront sites. This is a Brevard County Park.

Just be aware LYH is a 55+, no children, no pets campground. You may or may not like that depending on your age and lifestyle.

We would love to go to LYH, but they are not dog lovers

This policy seems rather strange considering all of the dogs you see in campgrounds. Must be an old WBCCI thing, maybe Wally did not have a dog.

check out Jetty Park at Cape Canavarel. Nice beach and pier. Also you can watch the cruise ships departing and if you are lucky see a submarine.
Farther south is Jonathan Dickinson SP between Hobe Sound and Jupiter. This is a nice area of Florida in the Palm Beach area. There are two campgrounds, one at the river which is the older area (lots of trees) and a newer one up near the highway (US1). This area was hit hard by a hurricane several years ago and the trees are sparse. The bathrooms and showers in this area are really nice. This campground books early, but cancellations do occur. If you are into bike riding there are a lot of interior roads and trails. The river is a great place for kayaking.

Since being laid off from the space program, I haven't been back to the Kennedy Space Center Employee Rec Area/Campground (KARS 1) but it was nice, cheap, pet-friendly and river-waterfront!!! Next best park IMO is Jetty Park as mentioned above.
Here's a link with details on who can access this NASA park: Kennedy Space Center NASA Exchange Council - KARS Park

I know some folks enjoy Manatee Hammock in Titusville (also river-waterfront).Manatee Hammock Park Campground Home
Now that I look at this link, I remember Longpoint as a kid but don't know the condition now. And Wickham park is okay - and it has a nice dog park.

Good luck - I miss "home".

We made reservations at Wickham Park for 4 nights. Thanks for the suggestions.
