Flaming Gorge Rec Area

We are planning a summer trip and will be in the Flaming Gorge National Recreation area(Utah & Wyoming). Has anyone ever camped in there? We will be towing a 30' w/slide and the other rig is a pop-up. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I was also thinking of going there in september.
I know of one camp ground at a boat launch at the beginning of section C.
No hook ups. I think it BLM.

I camped there a couple years back, the sites are adequate in length but very narrow as I recall. Pretty Country.

Looked at your photo's great pixs!! Question on bringing your trailer onto the beach. Do you need a four-wheel drive tow truck? Any other requirements to be able to camp there??
PS Thanks for your reply on my Flaming Gorge query.

Thanks for the complement Rich. The north beach at Padre Island is a blast and I highly recommend it. You do not have to have a 4wd, but you do need a permit, use good sense in where you drive, and have some understanding about the tides.

On a first trip I would recommend setting up in one of the established campgrounds at first and then driving out on the beach to get a feel for things. A 2wd is perfectly adequate for the first couple miles of beach, after that it gets sketchy. While towing, stay on the wet sand as much as possible. When setting up the camper, pull in as close to the berm as you can and make sure you park on boards. Lots of folks camp on the beach so talk to those who do a lot and get their input. Most of the time the tides are not an issue, but I figure at least once in a two week trip I will be driven off the beach by it. If you search padre island national seashore you will find several threads about camping there.

From what I remember Flaming George is more of a boating area. A few years ago we were heading north along side with a tour bus all the way from Vernal. We both stopped at the Falming Gorge dam and we were immediately besieged by a bus load of Italian tourists who were much more interested in my AS than the gorge. They were overjoyed that I let them stand next to the Airstream and take photos "Bella, Bella, Bella". Never did find that George guy.

You might enjoy Dinosaur National Monument. There really is a lot to do there (more than just old bones) and some cool off the beaten track spots in between Dinosaur and Flaming Gorge.
