FL Panhandle to San Diego in April

Greetings All,

1 - Looking for pointers for our first real Airstream adventure going across with the kids for a week in April; Pensacola to SD. Any route advice with respect to April Weather and any good places stay would be greatly appreciated. Good scenery, weather, chow, etc etc. My ladies are big on nice facilities.

2 - Is there a place on any of the forums where canned trips are stored? (Maybe one day we will be able to leave home not knowing where we are going and when we are coming back...)

Generally road trip stories are kept under "On the Road" sub-heading.. You can either type key words into search tab above (for a trip to a location or region), or click on blue link at top left "AIrstream Forums" and then scroll down to link for "On the Road" and look at all the other threads filed there..

My advice is that a week is going to make for lots of driving, and little stopping or sightseeing or resting... Get good directory, stop and use cell phone late afternoon to book confirmed stop, and "drive on til dark" may be your only option... Bypass New Orleans on I-12 for sure... Stay close to I-10, though more interesting to branch north to I-40 west of Texas.. (follows much of Route 66). Do get back to i-8 by time you hit California, since you don't want to fight traffic and LA Freeways for last 200 miles to get to San Diego..

In Theory, there's no difference between Theory and Practice, but in Practice, there is usually a difference...

A week for that trip is going to be a misery for all concerned. Must you go all the way to San Diego?

Good luck - Pat
