FL- GA- NC- VA --- 3 weeks - ready

The 2017 FC 27 FB is hitched to the truck, the fridge is precooled and loaded, tomorrow at o'dark thirty we will leave Florida and head to our first campground - Indian Creek Campground just outside of Cherokee NC. We will be there for the eclipse on Monday.

From there we will spend a week at Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia doing day hikes and enjoying some cooler weather.

Then on to Grindstone Rec area on the back of Mount Rogers for a few days.

Finally on to our first Airstream Rally at Top of Georgia Airstream Park for Labor day weekend.

If you see a 27' Airstream pulled by a white F150 Platinum stop by and introduce yourself.

Mike

Have a great trip enjoying our lovely mountains. The Cherokee area is great this time of year. Travel safely!

Have a great time, drive slowly but enjoy. When you get to Top of Georgia take some time to head into town (Helen). Granted it is touristy but cute if you haven't been. Some really good restaurants and week days are much much better than weekends.

Don't go into Cherokee on Hwy19. Its scary narrow two lane with no pull offs

Don't forget Dillard House in Dillard GA, your doggie bag will be good for two meals. Yummy classic southern cooking, might delay your arrival time some. US 23 is a nice drive up into NC. Will give the F150 a work out

It was a smooth 9.5 hour drive the F150 handled the mountains with ease. Campsite is delightful and weather is much

Home safe after 1800+ miles - met a bunch of folks from this forum along the way.
Got back to FL just ahead of Irma - we had 90-105 mile per hour winds - no damage to the Airstream, house or truck. Lots of downed limbs etc - we are safe without power but feeling very blessed
