Every state has it's own codified laws (not rules & regulations) regarding firearms, & there is a distinction between types of weapons & the laws governing their possession. You must 1st be 'legal' in your home state for the type of weapon and how you wish to carry it. You can refer to the NRA, & many other sites, for reciprocity between your state & the ones you are travelling to & through. I wouldn't even think about crossing an international border with one!
It can get complicated because a travel trailer may or may not be considered a domicile. Some states & jurisdictions have set precedent where a travel trailer is considered a vehicle & not subject to the same search, seizure, & protection rights granted a U.S. citizen in a 'permant' home.
My experience has been a legal/full length, not sawed-off!, shot-gun in the trailer, unloaded when unoccupied, is usually the most acceptable weapon to carry from state to state. I can not stress enough how important it is to check before you carry!!! In Massachusetts there is a 1 year mandatory jail sentence for having a concealed weapon in a vehicle.
