Page and I are planning to explore the NY Finger Lakes area for a couple of weeks after attending the Birthday Bash. We have not been to the area before, so would appreciate any native help we can find.
We'll have our kayaks and would love to find a spot on a lake, any lake.
Any ideas?
Thanks - Pat

I haven't been that way in years but it is very nice around there. There is Sampson state park on one of the finger lakes. Used to be a training base in WW2.
Corning NY has a very nice glass museum.
Don't know how close it is but Letchworth State park is very interesting(grand canyon of the east).

I bet when you come to the Washington, DC "Our Nations Capital Rally", you'll get to meet the infamous Bob Thompson, which I'm sure he'll be able to answer that question with plenty of suggestions. He can make circles around us all with all the travel he has done. He is amazing, he'll tell you routes to take and places to stay.

Thanks, guys - I don't normally worry too much about reserving sites, but part of the time we'll be out is the July 4th weekend. I think I want to be settled in someplace to avoid as much thrashing about as possible.
