Favorite Website for Campground Reviews

Has anyone found a reliable, comprehensive website for campground reviews? Nothing out there seems to be what I am looking for. Why all these hotel reviews? Where are the campers?

I use this one when looking for places on the road.
RV Park Reviews :: Home
I have found the reviews to be very accurate for the most part.

I like both the above suggestions. I refer to rvparkreviews and forestcamping frequently.

This site has relatively few campgrounds, but if it has one you're interested in, there are lots of good pics.

There is an app called Campwhere for iPhone. It may have incarnations for other smartphone platforms as well. It list all fed/state/local government funded campgrounds on a searchable map interface. We use it all the time.

We like www.woodalls.com and go with nothing rated lower than four W's

For other camgrounds we 'really' like and utilize www.uscampgrounds.info

Woodalls and we may go as low as 3 W's for facilities. Recreation is not that important to us as we're there for the area offerings. We don't like to use web sites that have user information as we've noticed too much vitriol for campgrounds that we've enjoyed.

I agree sometimes you run into a review where someone appears to have an ax to grind. But if you weigh the ratings against the comments it is easy to tell whether a bad rating is legitimate or not. The comments are very helpful in providing greater insight into the campground.

Yes, on www.campgroundreviews.com you see both nutty reviews (somebody with some kind of beef, often irrelevant) and reviews that are obvious plants by owners or their friends. However, the site is now old enough and well enough established that places in more popular locations have large numbers of reviews, so the beefs and plants are pretty easy to spot and ignore.

What? Nah, you don't have a motorhome. We did get a nice review from a WBCCI member in one. I think it was probably somebody from the Texas Plains unit that had a rally up here in the summer. Several of them had motorhomes.

In addition to some of those mentioned, I kind of like TripAdvisor. They don't appear to have a specific category for campgrounds, but there are several rated. If I'm in doubt of a rater's credibility, or possible motives, I sometimes find it useful to read reviews of other locations by the same person.

While not an extensive review site, these people do an absolutely beautiful job reviewing the campgrounds they stay at. Large, sharp pictures give a nice feel for the place, and detailed text review including Verizon service level.

We Called It Home

This is the closest thing I've seen to a perfect 10 campground review!

Where on Woodalls.com do you find the "W" ratings?

If you look down at the bottom right of the webpage for individual campgrounds, they put in little "W" symbols to indicate completeness of facilities. See the attached image from one of their reviews.

I forgot to add some additional info about campgroundreviews.com. It's a highly ranked site with the search engines, and when a person reviews a place, that location (i.e., the page within the site with the review) gets indexed and comes up fairly high in first-page listings. I guess that could be good or bad for a particular owner, but I think it definitely serves the interests of the customers.

Boy, you see new ones all the time. I just received an email inviting us to join usarvcamping.com, a new site. A quick check yielded a whopping one campground for the whole state of New Mexico. I'll include their blurb below. Should we join, or will this become yet another piece of junk in the pile?

Quote:
Dear Friends
We offer the most functional RV listing website around at http://usarvcamping.com
What makes us different? We are fully integrated in the best of social networking and daily drive the RV traveler to our website to see your listing.
We offer the ability to link to your website, post a complete description of your location or service, provide coupons, and even upload your logo.
Visitors have the ability to review your business and provide feedback.
Here is how it works:
Free listings include
Your business Name, Address, Email and Phone Number
and for $10 a year EACH you can provide a link to your website, add a detailed description and/or add your logo.
The benefits of having your website linked are increased search engine driven traffic to both your website and your listing with us. Ease of use for the traveler to make reservations or use your services.
The benefits of a detailed description. This can actually act as your website if you do not have one. You can provide as much description of your product as needed and expand on contact information and point of purchase detail.
The benefits of uploading your logo. The logo follows your listing throughout the categories. It makes you stand out from the rest and provides a larger "click area" for people to get to your listing.
Another thing that makes us stand out from the rest is we are here to service you. We are available through email and telephone to assist you in any way. If you would like us to create your listing for you, we will at no additional charge. We are here to make relationships and better the experience for the RV traveler. You will not find our site filled with additional advertising which complicates the user's experience. Unlike other sites, we are not selling the traffic to outside sources, your listings pay for it all.
In the future we will offer select banner advertising strictly to the contributors to our site. These banners will link to your listings, and then drive people to your business. The sole purpose will always be listing information to the RV traveler.
How can you NOT afford this exposure?

Lynn

Well this is little off topic, but not by much. Here is a website with a list of dump stations. Not every campground has a dump station, so you may need to find one along the way. Some are free, some are fee.

RV Dump Stations, Sani Stations, Dump Points; a comprehensive Directory
