Favorite States to Travel To
Other than your own state, what are your favorites? My three are Alaska, Utah and Vermont.
Alaska: Drop dead awesome! After visiting Alaska I can only think of the Rockies as foothills. However, I may never get there in an Airstream.
Utah: I love it for its variety of landscape from Arches to Cayonlands, to Capital Reef, to Bryce, to Zion and more. All that and hidden away is Grand Staircase Escalante.
Vermont: Small state but no matter where you are on the road there is always a beautiful vista.

The Carolinas
If you know where to look the Carolinas have it all. Majestic mountains with breathtaking vistas and beautiful beaches with little development and private spaces.

Oregon coast for us.
Every 50' it seems there is either a state or National park.
Couple that with the fresh seafood and it is hard to beat.

Oregon Coast
I have to agree with Jim, the northern Oregon coast to breath-taking at every turn. I've not traveled there with our Airstream but that will happen soon.
Here's a photo from Ecola State Park looking south to Cannon Beach. Everytime I've been there, it is entirely different and picture-postcard perfect.

Anywhere but home where the honeydo list is We travel extensively with our jobs, can't really say that we prefer any one area over another. Each place has something special that wouldn't be special if it was somewhere else. The desert southwest is beautiful but I don't think it would be the same if it was in NC. JMHO

Waterfalls galore
da 'U-P' is about as gorgeous as it gets in the Northland. 'U-P' as in Upper Peninsula of Northern Michigan, with local residents going by the name of Yoopers, am I right?
Want to hit anything lovely and laid back? As Carla from Cheers says, "Throw a rock." You'll find it. I hate to mention place names because so much is wonderful -- from Gogebic to Munising, Grand Sable Dunes, Tahquamenon Falls, Indian Lake, Fayette. Wander around! There's a good system of state parks. You won't regret it! Stop in town and take-out some pasties from a cafe (turnovers of meat, potato, carrot, maybe turnip -- a miner's lunch).
If your units are moderate in size there are many National Forest campgrounds across Chequamegon Nat'l Forest of northern Wisconsin. Unique environments for boondocking, but do your research on dump stations...! Fishing? Canoe? This is the place!
Brule, Wisconsin (35 mi east of Superior, WI) has a DNR campground under white pines on a trout river of sublime beauty. This would be chiefly for Bambi's or 22- or 25-footers (stretching it here). You'll not get a spot after Friday mornings. Box a lunch, rent a canoe in town, and shuttle to Stones Bridge for a day of lovely paddling -- only a few easy rapids if you've done moving water before. Day trip in your tow vehicle up to Bayfield, eatin' at Maggies.... and on, and on!

I would think any of the States in New England (Northeast) would be nice, with the small quaint villages and with there being so much history in that area, a lot to see and visit.
For anyone ever passing through Kentucky, check out the Red River Gorge.

Western Pennsylvania is my favorite. Reminds me of Ohio in the 60's. Kinzua Dam area, Titusville area, Cooks Forest are all nice areas.
Some areas of Florida are nice, Ft. Pierce, Marco Island is not RV friendly, but nice.
Tucson AZ, Sedona, AZ.
Gilroy, CA area is nice.

Its hard to beat Arizona as a place to visit, especially if you are from the east coast.

No Homer Talk
John HD, I kind of thought if you got to mention your home state it could turn into a my place is better than yours. So, give the other places their due. I too like Wisconsin. This former Hoosier is forever imprinted with childhood vacations to Eagle River and the upper Wisconsin National Forests can't be beat for camping.
UP Michigan? Love it too. Don't forget Pictured Rocks National Monument. The first thing we do is stop for a pastie after crossing the bridge into the UP. We travel a lot between Midland and Minneapolis. Lake Superior is fabulous in Wisconsin and Michigan and even more so in Ontario.
Our daughter worked for the Western Pennsylvania Field Institute, a non-profit that promoted outdoor activities (hiking, canoeing, kayaking). I can endorse Western Pennsylvania as well. She arrived in her new town, Orlando, FL Thanksgiving so I'm sure we will soon be visiting Florida.
Is there a bad western state to visit? I can't think of any. The Oregon coast is kind of a secret to the rest of the country. We delivered our son to Oregon State a decade ago and took in the coast. I was struck by the Willamette Valley as well and all its fine vineyards.
North Carolina? If one could say pick a city, any city, to live in, Asheville would be mighty tempting with those beautiful Smokies nearby.
Western South Dakota is a one day reachable drive for us and I agree its great with the Black Hills and the Badlands contrasting off each other. The Devil's Tower nearby in Wyoming begs a visit.

Awesome
I agree with the vote for VT.~ It has tons of "Covered Bridges" and, the 'B&B' choices are out of this world~!
For trendy shopping sprees, the town of Woodstock, is hard to beat~(I once missed bump'ing into Charles Bronson & his wife by 4 minutes)
My second choice would be Virginia, for all of it's Civil War battlefields..Williamsburg, is the town to visit during the month of April~! Williamsburg Inn is just fantastic~The meals there are something to remember~
Third choice is likely called a triad of locations. As such, it includes NM, AZ & CO~Those of you that have been there know what I mean.
ciao
