Thanks Forum Friends. This is exactly the kind of stuff we were looking to catalog for future trips. Love the good old flea markets too, Jim Lee. Please keep it coming. Don't think anything is too far to seek out. The runway is getting shorter every day.

Well, if you want to do some traveling, come on up to Ontario to Robinson's General Store in Dorset, near Huntsville, north of Toronto. It has been voted Canada's favourite General Store.

Good topic, BTW! My 2 favourite spots in North Carolina are Asheville and Pinehurst. We try to get down that way every spring.

Sbb,

There's lots of places to eat in and around the area, but the Town & Country is not on the tour bus route and its not fancy like a lot of big tourist restaurants around there are.

Here's an interesting one we stopped at North of Tallahassee a couple of years ago......

Bradley's Country Store

We sat and had home made sausage on the porch (and took some home!)

They got a thank you letter from a president for sending him sone - but I forget which president! We did see the letter though!

Love country stores!

Simmons-Wright Company

The Simmons-Wright Company, at KEWANEE, Mississippi- outside of Meridian on the road to Selma and Montgomery, Alabama - is an authentic, working country general store, in the same family since it's founding in 1884.

What about the Classic....

Visit Wall Drug!!!! It's not far from Mount Rushmore and while up that way you can go see the Crazyhorse Mountain monument! Lots of other things to see in the Badlands and Deadwood has loads of tourist shops to wander thru. Don't forget to stop by Sturgis too! Then there is always Belle Fourche where the monument of the Geographic Center of the U.S. is located and just 50 miles North of the town off US Rte 85 is the actual Geographic Center of the U.S. How can you go wrong. We visited the Mast home store, pretty neat. IIRC it didn't show up on my GPS search, but it exists
