Family oriented campgrounds near New Port Ritchie FL

Hi Folks,

My family and I (two adults and two older children) are planning to travel to Florida this summer (I know that's not the tourist season!) and I would like to know about any nice, clean campgrounds in the area. State parks or federal land is OK too. Would like the amenities but cost and location are as important. D/S and H2O required. Shade would be nice or a beautiful view of the Gulf, river, lake, etc. is acceptable. Oh, 34' space is also reqiuired!

Thanks.

Take care,

Sean

There is a KOA Kampground on Lake Seminole in the Bay Pines area (Alt US19).
There is also this one: http://www.sevenspringstravelpark.com/
And this one: http://www.ja-mar-travelpark.com/
Ja-Mar doesn't have lakefront spaces, but is a couple of dollars a night less.

Florida is blessed with some wonderful state parks as we've discovered first hand. You may wish to research them first hand at;

www.floridastateparks.org

Reservations are available at Reserve America 1-800-326 3521 or

www.reserveamerica.com

You may save a reservation fee by contacting the park by telephone.
Happy trails

Smile I'm from Port Richey!

Unfortunately, New Port Richey and Port Richey do not have any state parks that offer RV sites...at least none that I am aware of, and I've been here for 33 years. There are numerous trailer parks that you could look into, the problem is that most of them are retirement communities and won't have much for the kids to do. I've driven by this one

http://www.suncoastrvresort.com/pages/1/index.htm

many, many, MANY times and it always looks nice and friendly and very shady (important for Florida in the summer) and it is right in the middle of everything, so it's convenient to anyplace you might want to go. I have never stayed at this campground, but it's been there since I was child and I'm well into my 30's now. One issue might be traffic noise since it is very near the main drag, but if you got a site further back, it probably wouldn't be too bad.

If I can answer any questions, I'd be happy to comment on the thriving metropolis that is Port Richey!
