Essential Tools / Cool Stuff I've Found For RV'ing!

Howdy,

I'll start with just one!

Atlas 46 Yorktown Tool Roll.

I got a LARGE tool set, full tool box of tools to fit in this! I can testify this is a GREAT option and minimizes space. I got the full tool box PLUS other stuff in 1/4 the space!

Super heavy duty! They make a larger one but this carries a hefty weight and once you get too heavy defeats the purpose IMO!

Check out the video!

One of those purchases that hit on all cylinders for me!

What's your coolest essential tool?

Duct tape.

OK, so it's a corny joke, but when the hook broke off on our awning arm, it was really handy.

I bought a couple of tool bags from Harbor Freight.
One is mostly wrenches, with sockets on clip on rails.
All the assorted tool bags go into a 24 gal. Rubbermaid Action Packer (rare) and lives in the bed of the TV.
Long breaker bars and big sockets live under the back seat.

After having my 23FB for over two years I am ordering a new larger model.

My ten essentials for all owners. These apply to new and older trailers.

1. Check your tires for wear and tread.
2. TPMS (tire monitoring system.
3. Battery cut off switch. Many threads here.
4. Battery monitor. how much power are you using vs supply.
5. Make sure you have adapters for power 30/50 amp etc.
6. Along with spare fusses (you should consider EMS power surge protector
7. A good tool kit and don't forget the proper socket for your wheels.
8. Disposable gloves. Need I say more.
9. If you wan't to check why any electrical does not work consider a Volt/Amp meter
10..Bungee cords. You will read on these forums drawers coming out etc.

Have fun. Make your own list. These forums have made my life easier although cost a few dollars but probably saved more.

16 or 18inch crescent wrench......and an equally sized pipe wrench ....... works better than the tool that came with the hitch. ....also gets those stubborn pipe plugs out of the sewer connections.....allows trailer ball and insert work.

Of course the tool box on my truck actually has tools in it.

Yes -- used these when the little flappy thingy on the hot water heater broke off. Worked great for 600 miles until we were able to repair.

Rounder,

Flashlights are cool! I found one that fits in a bracket while it recharges. So far, it has stayed in placed over some very poor roads. Have a similar bracket at home so I can use the same flashlight when not traveling. Mag-Lite ML150LRX.Made in USA!

The tool bag is cool but I see problems with organization/finding stuff. I keep the large Craftsman blow mold kit behind the back seat, plus I modified the case, cut out a lot of blow mold and added bigger size wrenches and extensions rolled up in wrench rolls. It's all very organized and a pleasure to work out of and sits nicely behind the back seat of my crew cab with a bungee to keep it upright.

I like the flashlight and added it to my wish list. My favorite though after 20 years of carrying one in my pocket is the Surefire E1. One 3V battery and short enough to comfortably fit in my jeans pocket, I always have it on me and use it daily.

Couldn't get by without my Swiss Army Knife and my Surefire E1.

By the way if you want a E1 or E1E you will have to find a used one, they are no longer made. So far though Surefire has honored the lifetime warranty sending me several free switches and one free LED head over the years.

The Atlas 46 Yorktown Tool Roll looks sweet. That puppy's pricey though.

These make life better

My Thermapop instant read thermometer ensures perfectly done steaks and safe-to-eat salmonellosis free chicken

A set of four Reidel stemless wine glasses containing a single square ice cube and two ounces of Knob Creek Bourbon or 6 ounces of Pinot Noir from any Pleasant Valley, Santa Cruz winery helps me and three others ignore the thrumming of generators at sunset and savor the smoke from just lit charcoal barbecues

A pot sniffing dog to go through my rig prior to leaving British Columbia and entering Washington to make sure I’m legal for the trip through the US border station, the only place on the whole West Coast where it’s illegal. (I don’t actually have one of these but ...)

Worlds brightest flashlight. 6000 lumen.

We were somewhere (Lone Pine, CA) and at night it was really pitch black and my wife wandered off and got lost. I aimed it in the sky and she could see the darn thing like a WWII search light!

Infrared thermometer. Used everyday by temperature obsessed.

Electric impact wrench:
1) Had to change the truck tire three times! (Had a leaky TPMS valve cap)
2) A guy at a rest stop was working on his old truck. I pulled next to him with our fancy rig and asked if he needed help. He said he was changing out his big block Chevy starter motor and couldn't get it off. Well it took him 0.3 seconds to solve that problem with the impact wrench.
3) After a concert a guy drove off in his SOB class C with scissor jacks down and bent them all up. He needed the impact wrench to get them to move again.

This all happened in a span of a few weeks.

Oh and I have a battery powered compressor that got heavy use because of all my flats

Tiny camera that I use to line up the stinger on the Pro-pride.
