Elizabeth's Furnace - Front Royal, VA

I read a thread recently about someone's trip to Elizabeth's Furnace. Would appreciate info. on the facilities. I understand it is first come first served on camping spaces. Any problems getting a space? Did the campgraund fill-up? Early, late? I also understand they have potable water. True? Would like to full-up there instead of hauling water from home.

Any other info. would be great; like, did you have fun?!

We've tent camped there years ago...IIRC, there was potable water, flush toilets, but I don't think there were any hookups. In fact, I'm not sure that trailers were permitted, since I don't recall seeing any. I think the campground is covered by reservations. I've been to the actual site of the furnace. It was fun~ You'll have a little bit of walk but, the trails are well marked and not too hard to transverse.
As for camping, I've gone by the entrance to the campground but, have never stayed there. (looked too cramp for my trailer, to be honest but...)
I stayed at the Skyline Ranch, just up the road from the Furnance. Nicer place~Full hookup and, all of the other stuff..(Swimming pool, horse back riding, extremely nice club house, etc..)
