Eco diesel towing

Our park neighbor is asking if anyone on our forum has any real world experience with the Ram 1500 eco diesel. He tows an SOB loaded at 8200 lbs with very little truck cargo, about 12000 miles per year. He has a lot of diesels in the past, all HD's of course. He is not interested in an eco boost, may consider a 5.0 if he decides to go gas.

I would suggest going to www.turbodieselregister.com. This site covers all Dodge diesel trucks including the new econ-diesel. Dealers can't keep them on their lots. Owners are getting better mileage than advertised. Hope this helps.

There is a post in the Argosy forum from some fellow who claims he's getting 20 MPG towing a 6200 lb Argosy 26. It would seem that I bought the wrong truck. F150 ecoboost.

Nothing is going to surpass a turbo diesel as to fuel economy

I read a turbo diesel is about 30% more efficient than a gas engine roughly the same size. It would be a record breaker mpg report towing 6200 Argosy. I towed my 4400 lbs 66 Trade Wind with my F-350 diesel and booked 14.6 mpg.

I think we will see more and more small turbodiesel engines in the future. They are clean and efficient.
