I-10 between Lafayette, LA and the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge is notorious for causing porpoising. It's no fun even when you're not towing. It seems as if every concrete pavement section sags in the middle so that there's an annoying rhythmic up-and-down motion at every pavement joint (and the repetitive thump-thump at each gaping joint gets old really fast, too).
If you have the time and don't mind a longer route (only about 20 miles longer), you might consider taking US-90 instead, especially between Lafayette and New Orleans. The road is not only better overall, but also more scenic. Plus you avoid Baton Rouge traffic, which can be a bottleneck during afternoon rush hour. Avoiding that rush hour can make up a lot of the time you would otherwise lose by the longer route.
