Dutch County/Lancaster County/Hersey Penn and then Niagara Falls NY/Can

This summer my wife and I are planning a trip to the Dutch County/Lancaster County/Hersey Pennsylvania and then on to Niagara Falls NY/Canada. We would welcome any suggestions on where to park the Airstream and things to do. Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi. We live in Strasburg, PA...right in the heart of Amish Country and Lancaster County. There is a nice campground at Dutch Wonderland Amusement Park (Hershey owned) near the outlets and the "Route 30 strip"...shopping malls, restaurants, etc. While in Lancaster area check out the Strasburg Railroad, Pennsylvania RR Museum, TCA Toy Train Museum, Strasburg Creamery (I am a train guy- can you tell??), Sight and Sound Millenium Theater, and the outlet shopping. Hershey Park is not too far away...along with Chocolate World.

Also- do not miss an evening in beautiful Mount Gretna- a turn-of-the century camp meeting and cottage village complete with its own vintage ice cream shop- the very best in the area- The Jigger Shop. This is closer to Lebanon, a quick trip out of Lancaster on Route 72 (Manheim Pike). It is a BEAUTIFUL little village. I hope to retire there someday!!

There are of course all of the Amish attractions...I know little about them as I have Amish neighbors and it is an everyday thing for me.

There are campgrounds close to Hershey and Mount Gretna as well.

Let me know if you need any other ideas. When you live in an area, it is hard to come up with the "Cool" things to do.

Ben

Ben, thanks for the suggestions. My wife wants to see Mount Gretna while I would like to see some trains. Hope to work in some auto museums/shows as well.
Anyone got any ideas for Niagara Falls/Ontario Canada

If time permits, make a short side trip from NF(Can) to the town of
"Niagara Falls on the Lake."

There is a beautiful scenic drive along a parkway (follows the river) from Niagara Falls Proper to Niagara on the Lake. Its maybe a half hour drive.

As you approach Niagara on the Lake, you will pass a very tall monument to General Brock and just before entering teh town, a reconstructed fort on your right.

The town itself is pretty much a tourist spot, but a total contrast to the wax museums, rides, and casinos of Niagara Falls. (Although of course both have their place!)

There are many great restaurants, pubs and interesting shops at Niagara Falls on the Lake. It is claimed to be one of Canada's prettiest towns. It is also the location for a theatre centre dedicated to George Bernard Shaw.

We live just about an hour from Niagara Falls on the west side of Toronto.

Brian.
