Fort Davis to Austin isn't too terrible, about 6.5 hours easy and mostly interstate. If you loop across through Marfa to Alpine to marathon, you see some different scenery than you saw coming in. Gage hotel in Marathon is super cool, very historic and a great restaraunt/bar...

...so yer goin' to McDonald's for a hamburger and a view...?...m

Ohhh no! That was the trip up to Durango. We had to caravan with the inlaws. She hates camping and the outdoors and collects dolls. She got pissed off everytime we stopped and only pulled in to Mc Ds. Hey we have 3 rowdy kids one is a toddler. They need to stretch, move and eat constantly! I asked them to just go ahead as I had a nice trip planned with stops. We would catch up later. Nope. HAd to eat happy meals for 2 days straight. Thought our insides would never recover! So this time as we leave the inlaws behind(maybe forever after the way we have been treated us)its stops and fun and airstreaming all the way to sunshine TX. I should have known when I heard about the hating camping!!

When you stop in San Antonio (NM) for lunch, you may want to swing by the Bosque del Apache - a wildlife preserve where thousands of birds migrate for the winter (kind of like Florida for northerners). Enjoy!
