If you have the time, and enjoy history, there is a lot to see traveling across Kansas & Missouri. Especially if you get off of I-70 and take one of the other arteries like Hgwy 50 or 24. Fort Scott, KS is a Civil War fort and has a beautiful town park with W/E for $5...we were the only ones there. East of KC is a little town of Arrow Rock, which dates back to 1834 and was the starting point of the Santa Fe trail. Neat little town and there is a state historic park there with camping. Many others along the way...

Goodland KS, Mid America RV on West side of town. Nice place with grass and some trees. Can be noisy if the wind is from North, but usually is not. Not fancy and not trashy.

Abilene KS, there is a nice set menu chicken dinner place on the North side of town, the Eisenhower museum down town, an original mansion, and the Russel Stover Chocolate store, just off I70 on the West side. A new place to see or eat every trip.

Have a safe trip. Pat

In Indiana, one of my favorites is Richard Lieberman SRA near Cloverdale. Just a few minutes south of I 70 on IN SR 243.

Ditto on driving I 70 - one of the worst roads!

Try US 36. Pick it up east of Denver off of I70 and enjoy the drive. It can take you all the way into Ohio close to Jackson Center. Get on I75 in Ohio and drive north about another 30 minutes. Many small town parks and campgrounds available. I've made that trip several times and find it is just as fast taking a US road and staying off of I-70. Better roads, better choices of parks, more relaxing time.

I agree with Mojo, Arrow Rock is a little gem off Hwy 70 east of Columbia, MO. The entire town is on the historic register and is as quaint as quaint can be. Go to Huston's Tavern for friend chicken dinner. Then, get tickets to Warmsprings Ranch in Booneville to see the breeeding complex for the AB Clydesdale horses.
