Door Bell on Airstream

While perusing new Airstreams, my wife and I found an AS that had a door bell. We now my wife wants me to find out what it would take to have one installed on our new AS. Looking to see if anyone has retro-fitted a factory door bell on their AS, or installed an after market.

Ding Dong replaces the Knock Knock at your door

Ding... Dong. Get the battery operated one that you need not drill any holes. It sticks to the aluminum and can be removed. Lowe's should have them. One is the button to attach to the exterior and the other is the Ding Dong. It WILL drive you Ding Dong.

If it does not work with your Airstream, take the Ding Dong back for a refund. No Dong for your Buck is not worth having...

When you do not have a Ding Dong... unit attached, some are tempted to Knock Knock... leaving dents in your aluminum. This is more often the case when at a RV Park, when friend's come a Knock Knocking without the Ding Dong.

Just having a moment of delusion... but if you do not like it, you can remove it without any holes or damage.

I had a factory door bell on my '83 310 motorhome. In 10 years no one ever used it. No one expected it and figured that little black round button under the handle was a doorbell. So, knock, knock they went.

IF... you really need the Ding to Dong... some play musical chimes and other tones. Be selective. I would rather listen to Bach and Duh Duh... Duh......Duh. Than a Ding Dong any day.

Idroba... If you have a Ding Dong or a Duh Duh... Duh..... Duh...... on your trailer where we are camped... I will use it. ... and often.

Ray, just knock. No doorbells on either of my 20' trailers now.

Or you could sing a few notes of your favorite composer. If the shades close up, and the door does not open, you know to come back some other time.

Ever so often, I go out and ring the factory-equipped doorbell on our super deluxe classic limited with all the “bells & whistles”...

Why?

Because nobody ever uses the dang thing so I just want to hear it work once in awhile!

So much for bells & whistles...

We have a door bell on our 2008 Classic 25fb. Never used. I have to remember to take out the batteries during the off season so they don't leak.

I wouldn't bother messing with adding one, they are kinda useless as well as the telephone jacks in my Airstream. There are too many other improvements you can make to your new Airstream that is more important.

Our '83 Excella has a door bell. It didn't work. I took it apart and found the tone bars stuck to the rubber pads. I fixed that. It's been three years since, and no visitor has ever pushed the button. They knock. Every so often I push the button just to see that it still works.

I have one on my 2016 Classic. The problem is when moving down the road that batteries jump out of their slots requiring me to reinstall the batteries. Not a big issue but I doubt that anyone would expect to find a doorbell on an RV. The only to use it so far is me just to see if it works.

I had one in my '86 and it worked. Kids would ring it then run, little buggers. I had the plug and play on my SOB and I could set it to play tunes or tones. Again, kids and their games.

IMHO a doorbell is a requirement !
We have one and find it to be a funny conversation component at happy hour!

I have thought about retrofitting one if I could find an original. It is useful at our trailer rallies.

My wires broke off inside the handle. If I fix it I will put in a big air horn under the stairs and watch them jump.

My 1988 Excella has a doorbell. It sounds like a bicycle bell. Kinda funny actually.

I am afraid an air horn would scare the s***t out of my dog....watching the people would be funny though.

We have the Classic with a doorbell. No one has ever rang the doorbell. Dismiss the idea.
