It is just before 1 a.m. here in Ohio. The night sky is finally clear! We were out for about 30 min. and saw a bunch. Thanks, Rodney! That was a good way to spend time outside! The weather is perfect for camping tonight!

If you check on the internet you will see two kinds of links on Mars being closest to Earth on Aug. 27—ones about it happening in 11 days and ones about it being a hoax. The ones about it happening in 11 days include some that say Mars will be as large as the moon in the sky. For it to appear that big it would have to be maybe 1,000,000 or fewer miles away (the moon is about a quarter million) and I'm sure there would some interesting high tides along the coasts. Mars came closer than usual in 2003.

Yeah, Gene that is what I figured out when trying to post the link. When I went to Google to try to find it, I found the hoax info. Oh, well. :>{

Can I still try to see them tonight in California? What time should I look? It is 11:30 PM now, did I miss them all?

It's been raining and cloudy for the past three nights here. Maybe next year.

November? I'll have to remember that since I've always associated them with mid December displays. ~G
