Dometic AC - Lo Med High
Our 2016 26U has ducted air (thankfully!) but there is no audible sound difference in the Lo, Med, or High settings on the Fan when set to Cool. Should there be?

I had a similar issue with my non-ducted 2014 AC. I did a thermostat reset per the user manual, and the problem was fixed.

Simply set the fan to "auto". It will then turn off when not needed, instead of endlessly droning 24/7.

In my 2015, I can usually hear a slight change in sound between the low and high fan settings, if I'm right under the unit. Joe

If we need the air conditioner at night, I find it better to leave the fan on one of the speeds rather than auto. On auto it cycles on and off and can wake me up when it comes on. That's not a problem if it runs constantly. I usually want the air circulation anyway.

Right now I've got a manual air distribution box. I perceive very little difference between the low med high settings. There is a difference that you can tell is there but it's so small it might as well always be on high.

Wondering if you tried the thermostat reset per FCStreamer's suggestion? Although I don't have your model, IMO you should be able to notice the different fan speeds, especially as your system is quieter as I understand it.

I did try the reset and it didn't seem to change anything. I'll try calling Dometic this week.

Although my AS is not ducted, after installing the new Dometic Blizzard NXT air conditioner and two months experience with using them (FR. & R.) I can report that there's no compressor noise inside the AS at all, only air flow through the newly designed interior ceiling air box. The H, M, L & Auto fan speeds work the same as the Penguin I & II. The units run so cold that my 34' cools with just one, either F or R, unit running in 95 degree direct sun on the roof. On the medium and low speeds, they make about the same amount of air noise as a Fantastic Fan set to low. On high speed fan, they are about the same noise level as the Fantastic Fan on high speed. I've got no idea when the auto fan kicks on and off during the day or night. On the low setting, during the day, the unit trolls along quietly enough that it offers no distraction. Very happy with them so far.

NOAZRK 2690.
Which air box style are you referring to?
The NXT looks interesting.
How was drainage plumbed from the drain pan?
Thanks
Joe

Thanks for this information. Do you have the 13.5k or 15k BTU units, and were they an easy drop-in replacement? Ditto to Joe about the condensate drain issues.
I don't see any noise/sound decibel specs offhand in the mfg. literature, and am wondering if you can quantify the noise reductions you mention?
Thanks,
Peter

To answer some questions, Dometic redesigned the interior air box being used with the Blizzard NXT to reduce air noise by elimination of sharp corners, louvers, and so on. The redesign does a nice job quietly handling the increased CFM air flow.
I had two 15k BTU units installed because the 13.5k were not available at the time. It was a good move for me. I pressed a little cleaned out Keurig type coffee cup over the rear/bedroom temperature sensor to keep the direct cold air from blowing onto it, allowing the rear unit to stay on longer and cool the entire AS with one unit. I tend to run the A/C unit that is furthest from the area I'm spending time in when only 30 amps are available. If you check the specs closely, I think both units can be run at the same time on 30 amps if nothing else is drawing on the line however I haven't tried that yet.
There are no decibel specs posted for this unit, however they definitely are noticeably quieter then the Penguin I or II.
There is a drain kit available as an add-on. When installed, it easily connects directly to the existing AS tubing. All things considered, if you're planning to install a Blizzard it would be best to have about 4 to 6 inches of extra tubing and a connector fitting (90 degree) to eliminate any possible kinking. The only thing I don't particularly care for is that the kit is made of white vinyl plastic, so it is more visible. I plan to paint mine black.

For your original question it is a very very slight difference in speed. Hardly noticeable and can't see any difference in output. So I leave mine on Auto.

Would you mind posting a pic or two of the a/c unit(s) on top of your trailer? I've been considering the lower profile Penguin or Mach 8 both for looks and to reduce drag, but sound is also a significant consideration for me.
Appreciate it!
