We love ours. Very enjoyable and so little smoke.

I don't hate campfires, but I do hate everything smelling like smoke.

A lot of RV parks for big rigs are persnickety about campfires. Some like KOA have a particular designated fire ring for everybody.

But I note your location. The western states generally have bans on open fires and even charcoal BBQs when the summer fire danger is high. A quick look at Smokey the Bear's fire danger ratings and any state or local fire bans should be available on line for wherever you are going this summer.

Of course, you might escape the campfires and breathe in a lot of forest fire smoke from many miles away, but so it goes.

Last summer was like being surrounded by campfires made with wet leaves and going on for week after week.
