We are both retired and prefer the longer trips. We enjoy traveling and since the bed bug scare a couple of years back prefer to sleep in our own bed. We do occasionally enjoy a good campfire but usually let someone else build it...I have enough trouble getting the charcoal fire started for the burgers!!!!

ps maybe I should change my name

Good grief, this thread is going to be as long as the Andersen Hitch users thread pretty soon.

And I am not going to comment on campfires, no, not me. I luv em, I hate em. Take your pick.

Yet you were still compelled to add a comment. It must be a good one, or just controversial.

Campfires are better than house fires, forest fires or being fired from a job.

As far as getting rid of stuff, a good house fire is better than two moves.

Ask me how I know.

I don't care for campfires. Chop down trees that provide oxygen to burn to put CO2 in the atmosphere doesn't make sense to me.
We bought some wood in Glacier Park in 2011 and used part of it for Smores, my college daughter and wife are such kids, and wanted Smores bad. I was conscious about the smoke but it didn't seem to be blowing over directly on other campsites. We had wood left over and carried it back to Texas, didn't use it there cause it was too hot and there were burn bans. Carried it back to Glacier in 2012 and finally burned the rest of it for more Smores.

I'd rather smell a camp fire than cigarette smoke. Now that's nasty.

Yeah, but tobacco grows faster than trees, so it's a better renewable resource.

Ever try to smoke a log, or enjoy one with a good cognac?
