It's true that some of the blog sites I've looked at are so generic that they're a waste of time. Just yesterday, one of our yahoos sent out a message through the CofC about her new and presumably local blog site. I looked. And left. It was full of junk from all over creation, having nothing at all do to specifically with Angel Fire. Duh.

what do you think?

I have been surfing through the many blogs and websites listed here..and I think it is fair to say that a lot of these seem to lack a number of features and "koolness..." and most important lack total personalization... Is it because we're all a bit afraid to "jump in" or simply because we don't have the right resource/direction? I am just intrigued by this topic... and would love true user feedback. Of those who blog, and those who dont. Thxs!

I had a blog, but then I found out that a fellow blogger lost his job due to a former pissed off co-worker who found his blog and used it against him.

Now I'm not usually too paranoid about these things (and perhaps this particular blogger "deserved" what he got), but these days I'm using Microsoft Word and creating my own little diary of events and thoughts - totally local to my world. It'll never get lost by some defunct blog service provider, used against me, or otherwise used maliciously.

I totally believe in the value of information that sites such as Airforums provides, and I'll certainly keep enough information on the 'net for old buddies to be able to find me (and it works!), but I try to keep most other 'personal' stuff off the 'net unless it serves a very specific purpose and I feel like it won't be used against me.

Like Lewis And Clark

We keep our travel adventures and pictures in a hand written diary type book. We have one for each trailer. They are sort of travel journals, where we were, what we saw, what the waether was, what camp site and site # etc...
I work in IT and most of the time the last thing I want to do is create a WEB site or a BLOG for myself.

You know I always thought I didn't have enough time for a diary either, but it has actually come in handy when you forget someone's name or exactly when something happened.

Maybe Michael is so young that he doesn't forget things - yet...

I imagine it might be fun a few years down the road to go back and see how my viewpoint has changed.

But you sure have a lot of time to spend on Airforums...

Also, as for Blogs/Websites being used against you...you can make any and all of your site PRIVATE.... and password protect your content....

You can even make sure search engines don't find it if you want....

Hi gypsychris;
congratulations for the unusual colors, pink flamingos ... but why are there advertisings on the blog ? Do you think you'll earn a lot of money with that ( may be some bloggers can tell me)?

I've made a blog since the time I own my Aistream, just to share my adventure to carry it from USA to France and the story continue with all my travels and meetings so i never wanted that Google put publicities on what I tell because , if I do that, it's only for pleasure and not for business...

One more time, it's only my opinion and my choice, and not to frustate you.

Bruno
