Distracted Driving

Is this what you need to do the job??

I thought traveling was all about seeing the country. If you are not interested in the scenery, why go?

I can hardly wait for the air bag to deploy, blowing the ipad into the guys face. A stupid idea from almost all ways to look at it.

All that excessive heat from the new pads should do the trick on that airbag.

That's about the stupidest thing that I've seen in some time. Having one of these will make it easy for the police to spot you assuming that you don't hit a bridge abutment and kill yourself before the police find you.

Dumb. I might see it for when you're using an iPad as a GPS, but that's what voice directions are for.

The title of the thread immediately made me think of the time we were driving up I25 and a young bra-less female hitchhiker wearing a huge grin whipped off her top by the side of the road (I assume she felt she wasn't being noticed there on the side of the highway), causing immediate amounts of swerving from every vehicle on the road. I thought my boyfriend at the time was going to have whiplash.

That should be illegal (the iPad mount not the topless lady) but all kidding aside it looks very dangerous no matter how you look at it.

I hope he runs this by his insurance company before bringing this product to market (product liability).

Well, dangerous for the topless lady, too...I mean, do you really want the kind of guy who'll pick you up because you're not wearing a shirt to be the one to pick you up?

This product ought to clean up the very shallow gene pool from whence potential buyers spring.

Ummm.....
Anybody actually go to the gizmodo link on the page?
It's not a real product, it's an empty box intended as a prank.

The sad thing is that many people would order and use a device like this if it was available...

They're just looking ahead a few years when cars will drive themselves.
(Of course by then there may not be a steering wheel to mount your iPad on.)
