Dinosaur Valley SP, Glen Rose, TX 17 Feb 2012
We're going to be camping at Dinosaur Valley State Park near Glen Rose, TX 17-19 February. As of today there are 10 sites unreserved for those nights.
This isn't a rally or anything (hence the 2-wk notice and "on the road" forum) I just thought I'd mention it in case someone wanted to make sure we're not the only Airstream there.

But you're yanking an Argosy. What Airstream?

The only difference is paint, endcaps and the fact that *MY* original cabinet doors still work.
Oh, wait... and panoramic windows. Which side wins that?
I should say "... not the only Airstream *PRODUCT* there."

I missed your reply while I was busy popping off to REDNAX.
Well, we shall see if anyone is free. That'll be the first chance we've had to get the trailer out this year, and we'll plan for a laid-back, relaxing weekend either way.
Hopefully we'll be seeing you in Johnson City in April, if not before!

Yeah, that was too tempting. Truthfully, painted aluminum trailers are often far more "cool" than yet another dime-a-dozen semi or highly shiny A/S. Enjoy the park, I can't quite remember the many times I was there through childhood and the teen years. Have a look at the nuclear complex from satellite photos as well.

Well, even if we're not to have much other aluminum around, it looks like we won't be alone at Dinosaur Valley. I checked today and they're down to 4 sites available for that weekend. I guess everyone likes to camp in the "winter" in Texas!

Our "Carriaggio" awaits... I set my out-of-office message in Outlook and went to fetch the Argosy from storage this afternoon. So far it's a good run... I probably could have dropped it onto the hitch where I stopped on the first try, but nerd that I am I moved forward an inch before I tried.
I've plugged in to start the fridge, cleaned up the interior and started loading out. We're not planning to leave too early, since we only have an hour or so to drive to the park. We'll load the food in the morning, and I'll check the air pressure all around.
I figured out mid-week why the park is full in the middle of February... it's a "holiday." (Monday is Presidents Day... not working for a bank or the government, I didn't realize! )

Yes my friend, a Holiday. As you know, I work for old Uncle Sugar, but I have my passion that needs me to take advantage of these four days off to work on an Airstream, an Argosy or two.
Y'all enjoy yourselves and I hope you have better weather than the last time we were there.
Oh, and the next time, drop your hitch blindfolded! C'mon, live on the wild side!

Hey Lance!
I think tomorrow's weather is going to be about the same, wet-wise. There's a 40% chance of rain in the daytime tomorrow, and around midnight tomorrow night they're saying 70%. That's supposed to taper off sharply on Saturday, though. Remember they have those nice hard-paved sites, though, so at least it won't be a total mudfest. I'm glad you mentioned, though, because this time we're taking the dogs so I need a bucket for washing muddy paws. At least it's going to be cool, so it should feel a little less sticky than last time.
Have a productive weekend, it'll be worth it. That way you'll be free for Easter. Hopefully we won't have any leaks to find!

Set up and laid back in Site 36!
It's going to be wet for a while, it seems, but just occasional sprinkles for now.
