Diesel at Costco

I just thought I'd share this information. I was at the Covington Washington Costco yesterday and spoke with the Costco employee about diesel. According to her, Costco has already applied for the permit and will start selling diesel at Covington soon. She went on to say the Tukwila WA location is already selling diesel (she was wrong). Tukwila WA is not selling diesel, but according to a worker at Tukwila, diesel will be available in Tukwila in the spring (about April).

Since I was getting mixed messages, I decided to contact Costco directly. Here is the message I received from Costco:

We appreciate you taking the time to email Costco Wholesale and for your email about Costco gasoline. We typically do not sell diesel at our gas stations as it does not fit our high-volume business model. We are experimenting with diesel at a few sites in the U.S., as the number of light-duty diesel vehicles available in the U.S. is increasing. Listed below are the current test locations selling diesel.
#69 Billings, MT
#460 Rancho Del Rey (Chula Vista CA)
#466 Prescott, AZ
#491 Temecula, CA
#637 Gypsum, CO
#688 Bakersfield, CA
#747 Woodinville, WA
#1019 South Jordan, UT
#1178 Timnath, CO

Depending on the outcome of those test locations, we may expand our diesel offerings in the future.
Thanks again for your suggestion as we contemplate our product offering.

So if anyone is interested, there is the latest info on diesel at Costco!

Since we're contemplating getting a diesel tow vehicle, I was just doing a bit of research of the subject.

And if you don't have the GasBuddy app I find it invaluable while on the road for getting the best diesel prices. If you are a GoodSam member you can get 3 cents off at Pilot/FlyingJ. In addition if you use your Costco Card for gas purchases then that will get you a Costco rebate of 3% of the fuel price. All adds up.

It is interesting that in the early days of Costco Gas, most of the stations also had Diesel, but then the suddenly eliminated Diesel at all of them. But I do recall when you could get Diesel at Clarkston WA, and Missoula MT, but not now or for many years.

So, apparently they are trying it out again.

If you purchase a Wal Mart gift card and then use it at a Murphy's to purchase fuel you get a discount off the posted price.

Twice a year, for 3 months each, we get 5% off on fuel purchased on our Discover and all year 3% from Bank of America. With Discover at that rate paying with a credit card is better than cash at those stations that charge extra for credit cards

not sure if this is a California issue only with our special air quality rules

Currently gas has nosedived to just under $3.00 a gal. While diesel hasn't budged. It's at $3.80 a $3.90 a gal

At those prices probably take like 75k miles to get ahead on diesel's greater efficiency - not even factoring their other higher maintenance costs of a diesel vehicle

I'd be curious as to the bio content Costco sells in their diesel....B20 is a definite no-go for me. Anyone know based on your travels?
