Denver area - suggested stays?

I'm in Denver for 3 - 4 weeks.

Looked at Cherry Creek Park, but every weekend is booked solid, so I'd have to move somewhere else on the weekend.

Flying Saucer RV Park in Englewood is much more urban, and $37 a night.

Prospect RV park is full and the spaces are SUPER CLOSE.

What else? I've seen recommendations for Dakota RV resort in Golden, but they are $52 a night.

Just a WAI, we had the Alumafandango at the amusement park adjacent to Denver and they invested a lot in getting water and elec to all the spaces. You might check and see if parking is available there. Lakeside Amusement Park Information

The Denver area seems to have very few campgrounds in town. However, we stayed at one that is beautiful, Chatfield Reservoir/State Park.

Chatfield is just below the foothills in southwest Denver. Spaces are spread out with lots of open areas, with grass and a some trees, picnic tables, BBQs and firepits, with full hookups. There are also recently renovated bathrooms, showers and laundry facilities; and it's very secure.

This state park is pretty close to most of Denver, and conveniently located near the freeways (but far enough away to avoid any noise). I think it is actually in the Littleton city limits, but it feels like you are farther out of town.

See exact location in Google Earth using these coordinates:

We have reserved five nights at the Dakota Ridge RV Park in Golden for this August. It seemed to be the most "close in" location for Denver where we need to be. I've heard and read mixed reviews about it.

RVparkreviews doesnlt show much, which surprised me. I'd have thought Denver would have had a good deal more in the way of spaces and locations closer in.
