As long as this discussion is already going to pot,

may I recommend adding this seat, upon which one can put one's full weight, in order to concentrate on the matter at hand?

And the lid, although not airtight, controls odors better than an open top, especially if one has just added some kitty litter on top of the recent deposit.

Great Business Bucket video. If you want a super deluxe bucket toilet seat that closes tightly shut - trust the Luggable Loo - peat moss is your friend - black bags are nicer! Useful for camping when winterized of course and reminds you why you bought the Airstream for the rest of the times!

P.s. That tight closing lid will be a plus if you are using indoors in the middle of the night! Luggable Loos at REI and other retailers.

Love the pics-- that pool noodle rim actually looks comfy. We have a Luggable Loo, as well (aka "the Biffy Bucket",) but it mostly sits in our mud room as a compost bucket these days. With the garbage bag/peat moss alternative, we don't require an extra bucket, however, and can use our regular toilet. For winterized camping, we would mostly use the CG facilities to save on waste water, except for during the middle of those frosty nights.

Incidentally, in Moab we like Zax pizza buffet, Lin Ottinger's rock shop, and the Back of Beyond book store.
