Really been enjoying reading and keeping up with your journey. Glad you missed all the flooding. I had wondered if you would be getting any of that weather as you crossed the country. Hope it's over before you head back in a couple of weeks...or will there be more than a just a retracing of your trip to get back home?

Great reading and photos of your journey. We've seen many of the sites you've photographed, so this is especially fun to follow. Safe journeys! ~G

Great trip you have been on! Maybe we will see you at the rally, my wife and i met you at the N Georgia rally. Just to help you remember, we were the ones with all the dogs right next to you in the 23ft.

We met 12 other ASers a couple days ago at a cheese factory in Oregon, they told us about the rally in Bozeman, so we decided to stop by and see it. We at the Evergreen Aviation museum right now visiting the spruce goose, wow it's big.

Going up Columbia River gorge, then to Glacier NP then towards Bozeman. After that Yellowstone, Tetons, Colorado, Then home for 2 weeks before heading up to Mass for a month or two. You are welcome to stay on Smith lake with us if our schedules meet up. You can park right on the edge of the lake, i'll even bring down electric for you. I poured a nice little pad right next to our ramp. Take care, drive slow and have fun. George

Hi and tanks for the offer. We aren't going to Mass this year, but maybe next year when we go on a Caravan up there.

Live from Bozeman

Hi folks,

As you read we have arrived in Bozeman. I need to get caught up on the Blog, but we have been busy seeing the area. This is a great city for bicycling. A Rails-to-Trails trail starts just one block from our site and goes right into town--downhill all the way.

Right now I'm sitting in on the IBT Board Meeting and Seminar. Mostly reports so far from the various committee chairs. Treasurer's report sounded gloomy, with most items over budget. They did report that there was a lot of cancellations for this rally, but no specific numbers.

I'll get the blog updated by the end of the day. Thanks for reading.

Randy

Hi Tom,

We'll be heading north into Canada, then east over the top of Lake Superior before turning south through Michigan. Hopefully the nasty weather will be done for the year.

We have been on vacation ourselves this past week. We spent our relatively new tradition (third year in a row) of spending the week of July 4th at Ft. Wilderness and watched the 4th's fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian Resort...no body does fireworks like Disney and nobody does the 4th's fireworks like Disney!

I enjoyed catching up on your travel blog this morning when we returned. I'm not sure that the International has anything to offer our family so I don't think we will be attending anytime soon. I guess with Randy being an officer he is obliged to attend next year, but from your description, I'm not sure I would be inclined other than the opportunity to see the sights of the region and to meet new 'streamers.

Thanks again for including us on your journey.

Hi Tom,

We're booked at Ft. Wilderness for the Food and Wine festival in the fall.

As a Unit Officer, I felt that I should attend, but the real benefit is seeing the sites around the rally site. There are also some interesting seminars that you can attend. They told me that they had a good children's program this year, and the goal is to make it even better for Madison. I have no evidence of that as I don't have any children with me any more.

Many of us gave the leadership lots of comments on the "Teen Queen" pageant. This year there were no candidates, which kind of justifies my comments that it's archaic and sexist. What we heard by the end of the rally was that it is going to be replaced by a Youth Ambassador program so that the boys can compete for the title as well. The whole idea I was told, is to have something for the teenagers to get involved with at the rally.

Madison, may be a good opportunity for you to attend, if you want to see what it's all about and can spare the time, as it starts and ends on weekends. Good for those still working. And the distance from Atlanta isn't too bad.

Thanks for reading,

Randy

As most people on this forums knows by now, Disney and Ft. Wilderness are my family's passion. We took delivery of our Airstream on Memorial Day Weekend in 2006 and our third camping trip was for the 4th of July at Ft. Wilderness and we have attended every 4th at Disney since. We have averaged 4 trips per year to Ft. Wilderness and it seemed like we went home this past week. Our next planned trip will be in early October for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (another family tradition). The Haunted Hay Ride is fun if they do the Headless Horseman again.

If you want, you can call and request that they attach a loop request to your reservation. They won't guaranty you'll get it, but they will do their best. I have seen all of the loops via golf cart and I would recommend any of the ones from 1600 or below. Loop 300 is our favorite because it has cable, a playground for the kids, is a pet loop, has the dog park at the entrance, and is convenient to both the Meadows/pool/tennis courts and Settlement Trading Post/marina.

I don't know if I can talk the wife and family into forgoing the 4th at the Fort next year but I can try. When will it be the east coast's turn to host the International again...and will it ever return to the gnat infested, sweltering, sun-baked south again?

Tom,

What we heard was Madison, WI in 2009, and Cheyenne, WY in 2010. With global-warming, we'll probably be having these in Canada soon
