Arrived in Jackson Center

We have left Michigan and are now in Jackson Center. The blog is updated to yesterday. They picked up Daisy a little after 7:00 am. this morning and work is underway.

Randy and Pat, Glad that your trailer will be looking sharp once again. Will you be at Falluminum this year?

If you haven't been to JC before, like everybody else, you'll have to do the factory tour. I missed it when I was there and really wished I could have taken it. Oh well, maybe the next time I'm in the neighborhood...hopefully for a visit and not for repairs.

Hope your repairs go smoothly. I've read reports of both good and bad from JC. But mostly I've read good.

Kevin,

No we can't make Falaluminum this year. A family wedding will keep us busy at that time. Maybe next year.

We're looking forward to getting Daisy back in shape. There is one here that was hit by a deer. The entire street-side front corner is smashed in. What a mess. So if this dent in ours is the least that happens we'll be thankful.

Randy and Pat, Deer sure can wreak havoc on a trailer. I hope this is your only scrape with a post. Maybe we'll see you at the Can Opener in January.

Been there, done that. Ours was the front curbside corner and that is how we wound up making a trip to Jackson Center.

If you will be in the area in mid-September, there is a rally going on near Columbus, GA. See:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/cale...-12;&e=440&c=1

If not, try to make the Can Opener.

Kevin and Tom,

Other than a couple of local Unit Rallies, and our trip to Disney's Ft. Wilderness in October, we'll be staying close to home for the rest of the year. We have to regroup and prepare for our son's wedding in the Atlanta area in November. We do have the Can Opener on our list for next year, so we'll see you then.

Repairs are nearly done

Hi everyone,

I updated the blog through yesterday. Our repairs are nearly done. Leak testing is going on now, and we should be done by lunchtime today. We are very happy with how it turned out.

There is a rally the first weekend in November if that fits your schedule. It is the Falluminum like last year. Same campground, other side of the road with full hook-ups. The date was moved back to fit more people's schedules.

Tom,

We're not going to be able to make Falaluminum this year due to our son's wedding on November 9th. Maybe next year.

The blog is updated through yesterday. We're in Woodstock, GA now for the weekend.

Hi Phil,

Faluminum is a Forums Rally (as opposed to a WBCCI rally) that happens in October at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee , GA. Check out this post to my blog from last year's trip: Faluminum

Forums Rallies are informal gatherings of Airstream campers. They are lots of fun and have very little structure other than some planned pot luck meals. There are no rally fees, and everyone makes their own reservations at the campground. I'm hoping to make some of our FL Unit rallies, a little more like these, because it's less work for the organizer, and more fun for those who just want to go camping with their friends.

Here's the link to the rally sign-up http://www.airforums.com/forums/cale...1-7;&e=451&c=1 and the discussion thread on the rally http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...gia-41270.html.

I just posted my last two entries for our trip to Bozeman and beyond. The last entry has all the travel data like miles traveled and fuel used. This might be helpful to you for trip planning.

Thanks for reading, and for all the nice comments and karma.
