After some difficulty with Apple's change from dot Mac to MobileMe, the site seems to be updated. Let me know if you get any error messages.

Thanks,

Randy

Hi Randy,

When is the W & C at Fort Wilderness? Where can I get some info, although I may find it before you reply. LOL. Depending on my med condition, we might like to go.

Love that BLOG!!

PhilDor,

Here is a web site that summarized the events.

Epcot, Epcot Food and Wine Festival - wdwinfo.com

This is a special event held at Epcot and requires regular admission to the park. You will also have to purchase any of the food and wine samplings you wish to try. We have been twice and last year my oldest son tried escargot and liked it. Not to be outdone my younger son tried it also and liked it as well. My wife tried the escargot and liked it, too, but I declined.

I am planning to organize a Food and Wine Rally in a couple of years but with school aged children and a wife who is a teacher I will have to wait until their schedule will allow me to be there for more than the two days of a weekend. I would also want to combine with a Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (an annual tradition for us).

BTW, you will want to take that golf cart in your avatar with you when you go to Ft. Wilderness.

Blog Updated

Tom,

Thanks for replying to Phil with that information on the Food and Wine Festival. Do you know when they start taking reservations for the event? I think it is sometime in August. We are booked at Ft. Wilderness for Oct 2 - 6, for this event.

The blog is up to date as of this time. I'm still getting error messages from Apple's server, but everything seems to be getting published. I've sent them an email from the support site which they should answer by tomorrow. Hopefully, they will help me get rid of the error messages.

Randy

We have never done their programs since we have children too small to attend the programs with us (must be 16, I think) so I don't keep up with them too much, but the official information page at Disney.com is located at: Walt Disney World Resort - Detecting Browser Properties . . . . The F&W Festival starts early this year in September so I would think the reservations for the grand tastings and other pay programs will be available real soon.

Nice update Randy. Great photos. I know pictures never do justice so I can imagine that the country really is beautiful up there.

Blog Updated and Ouch!

Hi everyone,

I've got the blog up to date through today.

We had a small mishap yesterday and found a wood post we didn't see. The good this, if there is a good thing, is that we have an appointment at JC on August 4. Hopefully we can get it fixed there. We'll let you know.

Nothing a couple of thousand dollars won't fix. Make sure that you also check the inside of the trailer for damage.

Let your insurance company know, "BEFORE" you take it to JC.

They will want photo's and the time to set up the claim file.

Then all Airstream has to do, is submit the estimate via FAX.

If you wait until your at JC, there will be delays.

Andy

Thanks Andy.

We have already notified our insurance company and they are awaiting JCs estimate.

As far as we can tell nothing was damaged inside. We inspected everything with a good flashlight looking for any signs of damage on the inside.

There are always four things a person should do when dealing with an insurance company, when their Airstream has been damaged.

1. Do your homework.

2. Document, if necessary.

3. Like a scout, be prepared.

4. Let a qualified dealer handle the entire deal, except for the initial "notice of loss".

The qualified dealer, can answer insurance company questions that most owners cannot, saving time and headaches.

Visit Henschen while your in JC, after you take Airstreams factory tour.

Say "hi" to Don Ambos for me.

Andy

Oh man, I'm sorry to see you had that mishap. They always get you in the pit of the stomach and the feeling only gets worse before it gets better. At least JC is part of the plan and not a special trip.

Good luck with the repairs. And if you see a 25' SE FB towed by a brown/burgundy F-250 with Tennessee plates while you're there, say hi to mom and the girls.

Got a call from Chris Burch at JC today. He has us on the schedule for August 4th. He said it would take a couple of days to repair and had already got the insurance estimate in progress based on the photos I sent.

The terraport sounds pretty crowded based on another thread I read tonight. Hope there is space for me in two weeks.

I had a similar repair made to our Safari when it was a couple of months old. Actually, the damage occurred when on its second camping trip when we had had it for three weeks. I dropped the trailer off and picked it up two weeks later. I wanted the rivets to be buck riveted so it would have the new factory look instead of our dealer (certified to do Airstream body work) using Olympic rivets.

In our unit, they had to remove a corner closet to access the corner panel from the inside. This pretty much meant removal of the closet, bed, overhead storage locker, interior skins for the closet, first interior skin on either side of the corner and I think they had to remove the storage bay under the bed, too. It was no simple task and I'm sure we would not have been able to stay in the trailer during the repairs. There was some additional body work that would also have prevented us from using the trailer during the repairs, but the corner alone required enough disruption that I would have had to stay in a hotel at least a night or two if I had elected to wait in JC for the repairs to have been made...times are different now. I had less vacation time then since I had just changed jobs and of course diesel fuel was way less expensive than it is now! I would have elected to stay in JC while the repairs were being made if I had to do it today.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but it looks like you are going to recover nicely.

BTW - I hope you can camp in Indiana on your way...and then fill that state in.

Hi Pat,

Looks like we will miss Indiana again. I guess it will just have to be a hole in our map.

Caught up with you through Saturday. Looks like you still have a lot of country to see. Enjoy. BTW, we've seen gas drop by $.20/gallon here in Atlanta in the last week! Who knows how long it will last, but I'm excited while it does.

Hi Everyone,

The blog is updated through Tuesday, June 29th. We'll be parked awhile in Tipton, MI without Internet service, so I probably wont post any more updates until we get to Jackson Center on Sunday night.

Thanks for reading and all the nice comments,
