Cracker Barrel

I have read a lot about overnight parking at Walmart but have heard little about Cracker Barrel or other companies that might allow it. Are there many?

We parked at the Cracker Barrel in La Grange, GA in January on the way to the Canopener rally in the Florida panhandle. We called the restaurant from the road and spoke to the manager who encouraged us to stay and have dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed both meals and felt safe overnight. A motor home also spent the night. We will definitely take advantage of Cracker Barrel parking in the future. Be aware some of the RV spots at CB are not long enough for trailer and TV.

We have stayed a CB in Oklahoma City and Denton, Texas after calling their managers. Both welcomed us and we found they had long parking places for RV's and trucks. We had dinner and morning coffee at both of them. We felt safe and will consider stopping and CB again when we only need a quick night stop.

I haven't tried it myself, but one of my coworkers, who used to be an avid camper, suggests that if you have to stay overnight en route, try a church parking lot. Very few ministers, pastors, priests, whatever will refuse you.

There are over 30 Cabela's around the US also. I asked the manager at our local store about overnight parking and he said that yes, all Cabela's locations allow that. Some even have a dump station.

I used to stop at Walmarts or the flying J - but over time I felt walmarts were too vulnerable - I guess because one stop I ended up at one that was the local teenage parking lot hang out - all hours of the night and playing football that ended up under my trailer at 2:00 am ug.

flying J well used to do them - but recently they have become a popular spot and if you are not in by 4:00pm the you are SOL for a spot.

Not into the rest stops you never know what will pull up beside you - either mooing all night or the stench of piggies in a blanket. then there is the contestant running and diesel smell - just too dang noisy.

One trip coming home from Charleston I ran into sever fog in PA - it took all I could do to pull off in the mountains - the only place I could find was the Cracker Barrel - it was quiet clean and I find them safe too...They have been my favourite spot since then for the past two years on my I81 to I26 run from Ivy Lea crossing to Charleston.

I like to travel during the dinner times so I can still get in late and have the last super as they say. And if I am hungry in the morning I can grab breakfast easy.
Everything will be alright in the end. If it is not alright now, then it is not the end.
