I was hoping someone would give you some good suggestions. Since I haven't seen any replies yet, I will chime in and say the only way I know to ensure cool daytime temps in the summer is to go to a higher altitude. Pretty much anywhere in the US away from the coasts is susceptible to highs of 90 or more. Really, no matter how far north. On the coasts, the ocean currents will dictate the temps to a pretty good degree but even that isn't foolproof. It can hit 90 pretty much anywhere on the gulf coast or the east coast.
Hopefully, some good suggestions will be made. June in TX was brutal. I am not looking forward to July and August here this year.
Colorado Rockies. Get up high enough and it's a beautiful warm day and the nights are cool. New Mexico was also nice north of Sante Fe. Don't know what the rest of NM is like but will find out some day.
