Coastal Washington State parks.

I am planning to stream the Washington Coast in Mid-Late August. I need some recomendation for my guest who has never seen the ocean. Suggestions appreciated.
Cape Disappointment looks like a good start.

Page and I enjoyed Fort Stevens SP in Oregon across the Columbia River from Cape Disappointment. Lots to see and do, great views of both the Columbia and the ocean and much in between. The town of Astoria is great for dining (and drinking), and the towns you run into on your way south are fun (Seaside, etc.) Then there is Cannon Beach - a slam-dunk must stop.

All that can be daytripped from Ft Stevens. If you're a Lewis and Clark fan (well, you did mention Cape Disappointment) then Ft Klatsop is worthy.

Wish we were there.

Pat

Hi Michelle! Sorry, I musta missed the original post... the sad thing is that the best parts of the coast are not camp - able in WA. Longbeach to me is too carnaval like... I prefer the northern parts, but sadly, there aren't many camp (or trailer) friendly sites that way. We do like Astoria and the parts around there for museums and stuff too... the maritime museum is a must! Spent all day there.. the girls loved it! We also thumbs up Ft Clatsop for Lewis and Clark stuff.

Now OR is another matter. We like Beverly Beach St Park, also our own Camp Collector works in Lincoln City at the state park there... both are nice campsites and close to the ocean (BB being just a walk along the trails to the beach).

We also liked the private Cannon Beach RV .. clean, not so packed on one another (but still not state park like), close to the beach / city, and an easy drive to Seaside.

Make sure you reserve through the state reservation system, they fill up fast in the summer.

Boy you're driving a LOT this summer!
Best!
Marc
