Exclamation CO to LA road trip

We are back from a two week, 3000+ mile round trip from Colorado to Louisiana. We traveled south thru Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas into Louisiana. On our way back home, because of potential bad weather, we changed our route and traveled from Louisiana into Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas then back into Colorado. We were trying to stay south of last weekend’s rain and hail storms. We have never traveled this route thru Memphis and Little Rock before, which is I-40; we have never seen so many 18 wheelers in our life! Even more then I-80.

We stayed at a very lovely RV park in Terrell, TX called the Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park. Very well maintained and very clean. Owner caters to retired members of the armed forces by offering generous discounts. The spaces are all level pull-thru pads. Price with Good Sam discount - $24.00.

We also stayed at the Overnite RV Park in Amarillo, TX. Very nice for a night stay over. We had fun eating at "The Big Texan Steak Ranch", which we walked to and were driven back to the RV park in a white limo at no charge.

The owner of this RV park was telling us about a hail storm that went thru his park on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 (we were there on Saturday) that damaged 30 to 40 rigs. One of them was an Airstream. It was so sad to see!

We counted eight Airstreams along the way: 7 rolling and 1 parked. Our Airstream made the trip without any problems what-so-ever. She tows like a dream. Howard had just modified/reinforced the rock guards and they did were rock solid.
