Chilao Campground, Angeles National Forest
We went up to Chilao for a quick & easy weekend. What a trip to see all the devastation from the big fire a couple of years ago... blackened tree skeletons all over, but the hills and mountains are all bright green from the new spring growth. You can't stop mother nature! Anyway, here's a silly video. Camp on!
This is me waiting for our next camping trip:

The wife I drove by you two in my silver Durango and was checking out your double awning package. Very nice. Wanted to stop to say hi but since we were just checking out the site and not staying we did not disturb you. We lived in WeHo till we bought a house a few years ago. I'm guessing we should all get together.
You certainly had the BEST spot of the entire campground.

Next time for sure!
We'd have loved a visit!
Did you notice the construction going on? The fancy new outhouses... Well, they must be serious about getting them done because the contractors were there again on Sunday morning at 8am with jackhammers! No joke!
We may be camping again later this month, maybe back to Chilao, or perhaps San Gorgonio, or even Idylwild. I'll let you know and maybe we can have a mini rally!

We are headed to San Gorgonio the week end before Father's Day. Working a bicycle ride at Onyx Summit and spending Friday and Saturday nights at San Gorgonio.
Make it that weekend and stop by.

Gosh you know what, we came by around 5-6pm in a BLUE SUBARU LEGACY, lowered, black windows, black wheels. We were not in the Durango, its in the shop getting a rebuilt tranny to pull the 'stream.

Jason remembers you guys! I, however, was probably "distracted", also known as drunk. But just a little bit!!!

Bill, we'll most likely not be able to get away early June. But if that changes, we will be easily talked into hauling ourselves on up to San Gorgonio!

Is Chilao suitable for larger Airstream trailers?

The most desireable spots did not really look so but plenty of good double size spots. Table Mountain is not far away and more suitable for larger airstream if you have not been there.

My first camping trip
Chilao was the place where I had my first overnight. It was with my dad on a Sunday school father and son outing. Gee, I seem to remember more trees. That fire was huge. BTW that first trip was in 1954.
