CG washing etiquette

What’s the four-one-one on washing your rig in a campground? Should I stop at a trailer wash prior to check-in? Or is breaking out the wash rag, soap (biodegradable of course), and park supplied water AOK? I just hate relaxing under the canopy of a dirty/dusty airstream…

I prefer to run it through a car wash on my way to the CG. It's quick, doesn't bother anyone (like a neighbor camper), doesn't create any issues with the campground management, and it looks good when I tow it in. Now polishing things like wheels on it and the TV, cleaning windows, tinkering for the most part is a whole other matter. I also can't sit still for too long so I love to "play" with little things that need doing so I leave a few for when I'm camped. Drives my DW crazy but that is also part of the fun .

We too stop at a quarter car wash upon arrival after a long trip...it keeps from having a puddle in your patio for your stay ~

I sometimes use a waterless wash/wax product in a spray bottle if the trailer's not too dirty. Like Shari, I prefer not to camp in the mud.
Many, if not most, CGs don't allow washing of vehicles.

Lather rinse repeat.

Most campground's don't allow washing.
Some have pay areas for washing.

We also prefer bathing Lucy at a do-it-yourself coin wash. It's fast and reasonable. Last year we stopped at a campground inJackson, Wyoming that had a separate wash rack. We gave Lucy a bath there. It was OK but took a lot longer, and we had to wait until a giant moho finished his bath.

I thought I was the only nut bag that had to wash and clean before arrival at a campground!!! I feel much better now.

New Washie Washie!

There is a gas station near me that just built oversize car/truck washing booths. The greatest thing? I'm not 100% sure cause I just spotted it driving by, but I think they have something like a balcony or elevated walkway on each side so you can do the roof! Gotta check it out this weekend.

My semi permanent home ground does allow it during spring and fall. I do the "bucket wash and damp wipe down" rather than using gallons and gallons of water. Two five gallon buckets, one filled with soapy water one clear. Slop on soapy water - do about 3 ft square, ring towel and wipe. Slosh on clear water, ring towel and damp dry. Move to next section. If it's late you can do part on day one, and the remainder on day 2. (The roof does kinda get a wink and a prayer rather than a thorough job.).

There is a car wash in Showlow, AZ that is 3 inches shorter then the AC unit on my friends SOB trailer. Don't go there!

Car wash is a good idea if you can get the trailer back on the road and up to speed. Otherwise, I prefer to wash it at home where I can use the leaf blower, and then a cloth to get the water spots off.

We just take along our aluminum bench and lots of microfiber cloths...we always have a stock pile in the trailer!
