Central Florida Camps: Otter Springs

Hey all, not sure if this is the correct spot for this, but I wanted to start providing information about camp grounds in the Central Florida area. There is a bunch of county and small parks that are not on Reserve America and are off the beaten path. I love Florida Springs so this may end up a Trail Of camps on Florida Springs.

This weekend we are going to:

Otter Springs
Address:
6470 SW 80 th ave
Trenton, Fl. 32693

Phone: 800.463.0800

Full RV hook up: $24 per night
Hook ups: water 50/30 , power, sewer , no cable, no wi fi.

Features: second magnitude spring, pool, trails, water access to Swanee river.

We did a drive by after our trip at Heart Springs, and it looked nice. Most of the sites are under trees, they allow dogs, have a covered pool, and a spring for swimming and diving. We are really looking forward to the trip!

Thanks, Silverflames. We live in north Florida and are always looking for new places to try. I hope you might post some pictures and feedback on Otter Springs when you return.

Do you want limit to just central FL. We were at a great campground this weekend in the Pan Handle. This is a good idea, maybe by state.

Roll, yep will add photos this weekend.

I use the I phone app 90% of the time and I could not find a better place to post this.

Would it be better to have one long thread with multiple camp grounds, or a new thread for each camp ground? My thought was to start each new thread with "Central Florida (camp ground name), so it would be easy to search for.

On the other hand we could do a general "Florida Camp Grounds" thread that we all could post on. I'm up for either way. Since this a structure/ posting issue this might be a good question for a moderator. Chime in let me know what you think!

Normally the reviews I find on the various review sites are not detailed enough, I like to see pictures and read comments by someone who I can at least try to send an question to.

Obviously, a drive by in your part of the world means something different than it does here in the New Orleans metro area, since you didn't list a body count.

As long as there's cellular service, I can provide my own WiFi on those rare occasions I need it.

So far, I've only stayed at one campground since buying my Airstream over a year ago, that didn't have ANY coverage at alló no broadcast television, no WiFi, no cellular phone service. A whole four-day weekend of nothing but me and the beauty of nature. Life just doesn't get any better! I pity the poor fool in the Prevost the next campsite over who was so desperate for electronic entertainment that he had to set up his satellite dish in MY campsite because his rig was so big it scraped the trees on all sides and there was no open sky in his campsite to aim the dish at.

So last time were did our "drive by". Kids had there water guns, wife camera, it was a Sunday. There could not have been more than 6 campers in the whole place. Today booked solid, right on top of each other! But it is a three day holiday.

We came in after dark, close to 9 pm. They had a golf cart lead us to our site and help us park. They then carried over a fire put and table. The sites are smaller than we expected. But nice, seemed to have newer power and water infrastructure.

Some camp sites have a fenced in area. That would be the way to go.

The pool is covered with a open truss wood structure. Very nice set up. It must be heated.

Just a quick post on cell reception out here. I use AT&T and get 2 bars outside of my trailer, one or less inside. Speed tested out at 2.5 Meg's down 1 up, ping of 107.

Neighbors have a Sprit and Verizon Phones and report they work "good."
